| For anyone planning to attend the match today who doesn't use Twitter: as it stands (subject to confirmation) the game is on but kick off will be moved to 6:30pm. In the meantime Saints are asking for volunteers to turn up with shovels/brushes.

Didn't go the game (it's bath night). However, good result. What did people think of the performance who went?

| fages scored a good try was very busy when he came on and played well offered a lot of options his try was superb made the initial break and then finished it off after the ptb, Percy scored a try worthy of the admission money alone, made abreak handed off the dewsbury player and then turned the full back inside out with great footwork, all of the youngsters played wlel didnt let anyone down , ownes loked a bit dodgy under the high ball but considering the cold and others did the same i cant complain too much, oh and Louis scored two , the second was the furthest i think ive seen him run .

| With the usual disclaimer that you can't read too much into this kind of game:
In the first half we looked very much the same as we did for most of last year. We scored a try each of the two times we got a fresh set in their twenty but we didn't look remotely like making a break at any time.
In the second half Fages went into the halves and we looked miles better. He was a threat with the ball, scoring a great try and and also drawing a man to put LMS away. He also looks like a tough little defender.
Generally speaking the rest of the new bunch were pretty non-descript. Peyroux and Tasi did their jobs without standing out. Owens looked okay, and his goalkicking was good, but he did drop a bomb.
When we signed Fages I suggested that it might be an idea to play him at 6 and try Burns as a backup 9. Tonight has added weight to that for me.

| Theo Fages will be a star. His got that class about him. Owens did well but did drop a bomb for a Dewsbury try. Tasi was Ok. Peyroux I thought was rubbish, can defend but his attack with ball in hand was non existent. Goes down far too easy for his size
Dewsbury half back in the first half was head and shoulders better than Burns and Walsh. Just shows what a waste salary cap wise were doing having these two on our books there both crap especially Burns. Fages showed more in that 40 minutes than I've ever seen from Burns in a Saints shirt

| Sounds good on Fages, at least when playing in the halves. Less exciting is Owens and Peyroux, who sounds as poor as we suspected.
How did Wellington and Grace get on? Any chance of them getting into the first team this season? I think our whole backline could change over the next year or two with Walsh and Burns leaving, Lomax potentially never returning and Peyroux/Owens being very average players.

Owens was the stand out 3/4 after Percival. Certainly a performance to build on - but shadowed somewhat by Theo stealing the show. Theo, Burns and Walsh will be a relatively big conundrum for KC to solve, and solve quickly.
Wellington scored a very nice try, Grace didnt get too much to be able to do anything. Think KCs assessment of looking ready on the pitch, and looking like boys in the gym is fair enough. Wouldnt surprise me if they get an odd match, but I wouldnt see either pushing for regular rugby for another 2/3 years though.

| I don't think we can read too much in this friendly game which was very much give our team squad some game time. Our new signings will still need a few more games to adjust, but it does sound as though Fages is "up and running" which is the biggest positive.
