| Just watched the Wigan game
Flanagan has been terrible this year and that should be the last time we see him this year.
Looked like children in the first half. Clueless in attack at times and p1ss poor defence in first half.
This group of players are far better than that. KC better be giving them the rounds of the kitchen.

| Should we be moving for Danny Kirmond? Make approaches now on a "if you're relegated" basis?
It can't be hard to turn his head from Wakey at the moment, can it?

| I have a feeling Kirmond would be another Michael Shenton. What I mean by that is, no doubting of his ability but more comfortable in familiar surroundings

What is it with these Cas players and playing in Cas? Three of the biggest movers out of the club over the last few years have been Danny Orr, Michael Shenton and Darryl Clark.
The first two were a shadow of their former selves for Wigan and us respectively and Clark looks well on the way to doing similarly at Warrington.
Taking a Cas player out of Cas is like shaving off Hercules' barnet.

Joe Arundel was highly rated when leaving for Hull as well and he's not exactly setting the world alight.

Chris Smith wasn't it?
Lee Smith was the annoying little runt that used to play for Leeds.

| Chris Smith was arguably even more annoying. No finer example of "small man syndrome" you'll find in the sport. He was perpetually angry, niggly, infuriating etc.
Although he was a perfect gent when I accidentally smashed his wing mirror a few months back.
That said, it was a pretty good piece of swift thinking on my part.

| Chris smith was a fairly low key signing. To be fair though, he was quite a forward thinker in terms of play. He had little of the classic winger qualities, but was good out of dummy half, gaining ground, quick PTB ball and winning penalties when the oppo try and hold him down.
For a while we had the bizarre situation of naming him (a winger) on the bench, then bringing him on when Freddie T moved into the forwards.
I remember he'd had a scoring drought of about 10 matches, which he ended with a hat trick at Headingly. Coincedently, that was Kevin Iro's first game back from injury in a while.
Chris also had the unfortunate experience of playing outside Damian Smith, during the 1998 season. That was a dreadful signing.

| My funniest memory of Chris Smith was during a game for Cas at KR. We kicked into the in goal and he cleared it, before Alan Hunte rushed in and shoved him into that red wooden fence down at the away end.
He jumped up to kick off, only for the relatively enormous Alan Hunte to tower over him and laugh in his face without further consequence.

He was forever mucking around trying to get up and play the ball. One of the worst comedy cheats in that department since the Hulme brothers.

Did we pay somewhere between £50 & £80k?
I agree that he wasn't a bad player. But his height was a problem. He'd get murdered on the wing today.
