| Another impressive display from Walmsley assisted by Mose, LMS and Vea, playing up through the middle and a scrambling defence getting us wins which in the past years we would have lost.
Walmsley developing more of an offloading game now, could this be his best year this season.

Some of walmsley offloads last night in the last 15 mins was shocking. We was winning and should have been completing our sets and putting a kick in but he threw to many wild passes that went to ground.
I thought Mose had his best game in a saints shirt last night. He played like a very mature prop taking the ball up hard and strong, he put in his fair share of tackles and played longer mins. He seemed to revel in the responsiblty.

Just looking at them stats and we have few players who are missing far to many tackles each week.
Joe greenwood seems to be missing 4 tackles per match every time I look at the stats. Turner is the same every week missing 3 or 4 tackles. The other is Vea who again is about 4 per game.
The fact Turner and greenwood play on the same side would suggest we are letting 8 tackles plus on that side.
I'm not knocking them as I think we started pretty decent this year plus the disruption of the Souths game but we got to tighten up on the edges.
Like I said, I'm not knocking saints as the attitude and comitment this year as been excellent (especially last night) with the tommy tackles proof of the desire to win. The way he coverd last night and chased players down was unreal.
I've just a slight worry that if we don't tighten up on the edges a good team will put points on the board like Souths showed and catalan troubled us.

The thing is they are (at the moment at least) they're wokring as a unit, so they are able to cover each other, so I'm not too concerned at the moment. In fact some of the cover defence and scramble was marvellous last night (I think the break before the obstruction no try?)
On the whole there were a lot of positives in the stats this week. The tactic of using Masoe and Walmsley on the fringes in the last quarter was great.
Only negative was Wilkins 4 penalties and 3 errors. I appreciate the he's a back row not halfback argument, BUT most of those mistakes had nothing to do with what position he was playing ...

| How does a player play the full 80 at scrum half and fullback and end up with two carries?
I seriously hope we aren't going to go with Wello at 1 if Lomax is out long term. Utility forward from the bench in an absolute emergency is the limit for him.

If those edges sorted their defence out we wouldn't need the desperation of cover tackles and desperation whicn then leaves players well out of postion.
Surley it would be better to just tighten up. I know players miss tackles avd that's part and parcel of the game but when when are edges are missing 8 plus tackles per game we will get burnt at some point.

I like Wello and I know him very well off the field but he was pretty not existent last night and his defence at fullback wasn't up to scratch.
To be fair, he's not played for long time.

Well of course in a perfect world
On the wellens point, he did nothing in attack, but he had a few nice touches in defence, the 20m restart was something no one else in the league could do, and was important in the context of the game.

We surely strive for perfection?
I'm pretty sure we practice our defence and not our cover tackles or chasing back in training. I can understand last night as we had players playing in wrong positions but it's now happening every week.
Did wello mean that ? I'm not so sure but I'll be asking and im fairly sure he will say yes.
I thought he was weak in defence last night and even got stood up by Danny washbrook! IM giving him benefit of not having played this year tho.

| Obviously there are mistakes with these stats. It would be impossible for Roby to play 80 mins of rugby and only make 21 tackles. He would make that many if he was sat in the stand.

I find myself wondering why don't play Mose for longer spells more often. He seems perfectly capable of it, and he used to do it at Penrith.

THought the samething last night to be honest. I think it's his body launguage some weeks s basically asking to come off on his can't be bothered games but last night he was excellent.
Look at the grsnd final, he was down on his knees Trying to catch his breath after 6 mins.

47035_1386433761.gif We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif |

| I think it's a matter of balance.
Yes he can play longer minute, but against a side like Leeds, he would not play an impact role.
Against Wakefield he was still making in roads, after long minutes, against other sides he would probably become less and less effective as the match wore on.
Last year he did long minutes when we lost props, but then people berated him for not being the impact player they wanted. If he is an impact player then the long minutes will not suit against strong opposition.
