The Opta stats-based team of the season has been published. We only have one player in it, but the numbers are interesting. The majority of the team (9 of 13) have scores in the low-mid 500s. Another three players who have had outstanding seasons (Hardaker, Peacock and Farrell) have scores in the low 600s. Which leaves James Roby, with a score of 724.75.
I know stats don't tell you everything, but they do tell you something. For Roby to score around 20% better than the next few best players in the team shows just how phenomenally consistent he is. I wonder if the Man of Steel judges will take these figures into account?

| I've said all season that what he does often goes under the radar and he is taken for granted by Saints fans. He has been awesome yet again for us.

| Build a statute, I say.
Is there any way to see our players scores?

| Clark has stood out as he's done the show pony stuff like scoring or making those breaks but robes has done the tough stuff which sometimes goes unoticed with " less educated" fans.
Robes is still the best 9 in super league without a doubt, it's just a shame we overwork him and his running game suffers.

| I thought the players did man of steal??
Either way he is an amazing player. Just a pity he is so good that we come to rely on him so much, it covers for players who can coast for some of the year.

| Robes has been shortlisted for the Steve Prescott Man of Steel award along with Peacock, Clarke and Hill.

| Really don't understand the precession for Peacock to win it. He had a decent spell a couple of months back but recently he's looked the tired old man he is. Playing big minutes but having precious little impact.

I've thought the same over the last few weeks. Against Catalan, Wigan and a couple of other games over recent weeks Peacock's performances have had less of an impact on games. I wouldn't say his game is in complete decline but surely McDermott should spell him more and not leave him out there for 70 even 80 minutes most weeks.

| If Peacock wins it, I think it will be to honour him as a great of the game coming to the end of his career, not because he's been the best player this year. A bit like I felt when Farrell won it.
They asked a good question on Back-chat this week, which of the 4 would you sign if money was no object. They all went for Clarke. Imagine what a team we'd be if Clarke was coming off the bench to spell Robes, Saints would be unstoppable!
For me, Robes should win it for pure effort and excellence all year round!
