Quality player and I was v happy when we signed him, as you say though sadly he did not really settle and he wasnt helped by us playing with no halfback and for the most part being poorly coached (imo).

It's great from an international point of view to see him back to his best though

Always came across as a top bloke and someone who gave his all on the pitch.

Clearly Shenton wasn't happy at Saints. He's now happy again.

He's a class player in this league Shenton and I'm glad for him that he's showing it again. Should definitely be in with a shout of that left centre berth for England in the autumn.

Was allways a good player,but we played him on the right in a team with no real half backs and some average forwards,at Cas they are playing him on the left and have a good pack and decent halves

Shenton's a great player in the right team, but his strength comes from him getting ball while coming from deep. Unfortunately, our lack of available halves, inconsistent starting line ups and (once rush took over) narrow game plan didn't suit him. He did improve mightily once he'd agreed a return to Cas, though, which shows there were some physiological issues.

I remember him scoring at home (widnes) against Catalans, he hit a short ball from Leon pace at full tilt, absolutely class finish.
