Did anyone else get a parking fine on the retail park near Burger King or was I just unlucky?

Been parking there all season without any trouble but got a f****** £60 fine tonight........

People get them there quite a bit. We walk past there and I've seen them four or five times this season. Bizarrely they don't give them to all the cars though.

Bit of advice mate. Please do NOT pay it. These fines are only there to scare you, if you refuse to pay it then they simply let it go. The amount of money it costs them to take you to court means that they actually LOSE money in order for them to get your 60 pound. It does not effect your points or anything. You can read more on the money supermarket website on how to save money. The only fines you have to pay are from the council and police. I've had 3 this year, binned every letter.

Think long and hard before taking the advice above.

I'll echo this. Its a civil matter and they would have to sue you in a County Court. I don't think there has been a single case of one of these ever going to court. Apart from the cost, they can't afford to lose, which they undoubtedly would!

General rule of thumb is if it isn't council or police, don't pay it. You'll possibly get a couple of follow up letters but nothing more.

Check it out on google or anywhere for that matter. Public car parks do not have a leg to stand on. The fine for one is on the driver, yet many people could be driving YOUR car. For them to take you to court it costs the company a small fortune. Alot more than the 60 or 80 pound they will recieve. I've had over 10 in the last 2 years from different public car parks.

1st letter states how much your fine is = BINNED.

2nd letter tells you they will take you to court = BINNED

3rd letter tells you they aint messing about that court will happen = BINNED

4th letter.................................... no where to be seen.

Or a polite letter back to them stating they will not be recieving any payment so dont bother writing you a 2nd letter it also a succesful way of doing things but then your paying money for a stamp so i would'nt bother.

I've had a few. Like it's been said above, do not pay it, don't respond to the letters which use lots of red and black fonts to look official and scary.

Last one I got was on that Sports Direct car park. Got a letter saying I have to pay a £50 fine. Ignored it. Received several more saying the fine has gone up to £90. Ignored them. They finally sent one last one saying along the lines of 'pay £45 and we'll just call it quits'.

It's a civil matter, ignore it mate.

Thats correct its not a fine, its a breach of contract with the owner and the car owner. Its not cost effective to take it to civil court.

Many years ago I got clamped in a waste area of Wigan with the parking restriction 20 feet up on a gable end wall so you can't read it. I cancelled my cheque at the bank but got months of threatening letters.
I eventually sent them another cheque superglued to a household brick.............they cashed the brick/cheque in at the bank.

My pal got one in one of the first games at langtree park, he just ignored it and it went away.
