He never progressed. Brown told him last year he can go if he finds a club. I doubt we will ever see clough in saints shirt again.

A good, solid, honest prop who'll give you consistent, if unspectacular, performances. But, if you've got ambitions for the top silverware, he could only be a back-up prop, as you need your first choice props to offer a bit more.

TBF were still developing at the minute so ill gladly take solid and reliable, i think Paul just needs regular rugby which he'll get at Widnes. We have a pretty good track record with loan players coming in and improving.

Paul has always been billed as a very motivated lad. Hopefully this motivation doesn't stem too much for playing for his home town club, else he could drop off the radar.

This could be one of the hardest points in his career, he has to dig deep and make sure he uses this loan period to the best of his advantage.

Main problem is he's too small to be a prop and now to bulked up to be a effective back rower

Was never convinced Clough would be a stand out prop, but he can be a very, very good second rower in the Liam Farrell mould.

Although, with the interchange rules they are these days, I even wonder how a young Chris Joynt would fare coming through the ranks.
