| Lee Briers has retired on medical advice. Can I be the first to say congratulations to Lee on a great career and for his help in getting us to Wembley back in the day. He's been a player we've loved to hate over the years after that and once or twice his spite for us bordered on obsession. But he's also one of the game's few remaining characters, a hero or pantomime villain depending on which side of the fence you were on.
Cheers Lee!

| Always Sad for a career to end on an injury. But he has at least tasted some of the heights others would never reach.
I always thought he was a truely talented player. Maybe not everyones cup of tea, but I was sad to see him leave us and did hope he may come back until Tony Smith took over.

| He's had a good run till 35. I'd say something nice about him but I'm struggling.

| I know lee and he's good lad. He's been a great plsyer for Warrington and always hoped he'd play for Saints again.
He's the last of a dying breed of halfbacks. He's the old style halfback. Very clever, great kicking game and cheeky. They don't make halves like lee anymore.
I'm sure the wolves won't want to lose him and will keep him as a coach as he's got such a good rugby brain it's unreal.
Lee briers was the best player I played with. As a kid he was freakish with his passing, he could hit anyone with a perfect pass no matter what side he was passing from.
It's sad IMO that lee has retired, like I said, he's the last of a dying breed!

| Shame he didn't get a proper send off. He was always very talented, but in the last few years under Smith he really developed into a complete player. As St Pete says, he was a character as well, like any proper half back should be.

Can't think of any halves left now that are in the mold of Lee.

| He is a great credit to Saints academy of the time which really produced a golden generation with the likes of Cunningham and Wellens, three players who would go on to be top SL players for years.
Back in 1997 we thought we had produced the best young player in the game in our academy in Iestyn Harris and we were gutted that he wanted out. Who would have thought there was a better one down the road at Saints who we could pick up at a bargain price to replace Harris.
How things could have turned out different had Saints known what would have been about to happen with Goulding just weeks after Briers signed for us.
So yes thanks very much guys for producing Lee Briers and giving us a decade and more of great memories (part makes up for us producing Sculthorpe for you).
Enjoy your retirement Lee

| I remember him playing for St Helens Crusaders down at Dodd Ave with my own son. He was a wiry little kid playing a year above his age.......makes me feel old now icon_smile.gif
There was another kid down there as well, Kieron somebody or something. ...don't know what happened to him icon_smile.gif
