Is Castleford to Salford really progress? Hope he does well.

I'd say it is, given they'll be looking to sign some major talent now the've got the Doctor's millions.

I think injury has caused him to stall at Cas, so a fresh start may do him good.

His not progressed, Castleford wanted rid as his performances have not been up to scratch.

Apparently both players concerned wanted to move closer to home?

Also, it appears Dixon got to captain Salford the other week. Well done to the lad.

Dixon and Ashurst have both been top signings for us from you lot, I think some of our fans also forget how young they are for a pair of starting forwards. Gaskells started like a house on fire aswell, hopefully Emmitt will turn out the same and we'll have a good former Saints contingent with us.

Ian Millward is a very poor coach

He isn't, he's a decent coach and has been unlucky that both Wigan and Castleford were a mess when he joined them.

Or he was lucky at saints with the team he had?

You'd have to say then that he was lucky with the team he had at Leigh too, twice.

Emmitt didn't quite have the strength or aggression to make it at Saints, but it's good to see that he's making a career out of it elsewhere.

In terms of Millward, yes, he inherited a great squad, but they still needed coaching, and any Saints player who was around at that time will tell you that he had complete control over that squad. He didn't over coach them, but he allowed them an opportunity to play what was in front of them, and play without any real structure in an attacking sense. So yes - I think it's fair to say that he's a pretty decent coach, and if you think differently because of his spell at Cas, then you wrong. Unfortunatly, Cas are sinking lower and lower in pretty much every department, and as coach, he's the first one people look towards.

He was , Leigh nearly went bust twice making those teams!

IMO we made a mistake in letting Emmitt go. We couldn't offer him a deal big enough for a squad player that he was at the time and other clubs could justify paying him more as he'd be first choice.

Its a shame we couldn't have thought of a way of keeping him as he was progressing very well and in his last season playing very very well.

Obviously it hasn't worked out for him since he left which is a shame.
