Sad to learn from Twitter of the death of Dave Chisnall. One of the old school tough props. Never the most athletic of players but a real character. Thoughts are with his family.

Awful, awful news. He was a real character, larger than life and was was a real old fashioned prop.

I've just seen this on the Leigh board, and only 64, apologies for the cut and paste:
Sad to hear this news. I loved him at Saints in the mid late 70's when my dad used to take me to Knowsley road to watch Saints before I discovered Leigh. As has been said he had a phenomenal side step for such a heavy guy, he also had great turn of pace over a short distance. I recall a cover tackle on the touich line on a breakaway he made at Knowsley road and couldn't quite figure who it was, only to discover it was him. I still don't know how he got there. For me he was on old style prop of the type we no longer see...short, very squat with large gut but bags of skill.

So sad to hear of his death, I worked with Dave and his brother John some years ago, real characters from a great sporting family, will be sadly missed. sincere condolances to family. may he rest in peace.

Lots of memories of Dave Chisnall from my early days of watching Saints. Absolutely agree with the comments mentioned above - a typical gutsy old style prop who always gave his all. RIP
