Nah, I know your team has a number of our rejects but we've got plenty of our own St Helens lads to cheer on thanks.

| Big thumbs up for Briers. A St. Helens lad that didn't want to leave who deserves plenty of credit for rescuing his career years past the point when most judges thought he'd p!ssed it into the gutter of underachievement.
I'll be supporting him in the final.

How do you make out he didnt want to leave? It was a long time ago but I recall him not being too happy about not getting a shirt for Wembley and that encouraged Dire to come in with an offer. Personally I'm pretty glad he left because if he hadn't we would never have gone for Longy.
Can't say I like him as a player (his constant bleating makes wello seem like he's taken a vow of silence) and from what I hear he isnt a nice bloke off the field.
I'll be supporting Leeds in the final. I hope Briers has a stinker.

No sour grapes from me. The only time I ever want Dire to win is when you play the goons, next week is no exception.

Must be true then.
I doubt he would say " I spat my dummy out because I got dropped" . Talented player no doubt but like I said him or Longy ? no contest Longy every day of the week.

Not so difficult is it just say well done even if you can't stand him + how do you know he's not a nice man off the field?I've met him personally + from my own opinion that's a load of rubbish. Also does a lot for charity like a many players.

Well, I can either choose to believe the protagonist's story (you know, the guy who was actually THERE) - or someone who clearly wasn't.
By the way, Bomber was there that night, too (you know, the guy who was INVOLVED IN THE CONTRACT DISCUSSION) - and he said Briers was remarkably professional about being dropped.

Fair enough , players still have a choice though , did Bomber say he didnt want him ? Briers could have said no to Dire and asked to stay to fight for his place but he didn't. Anyway's it doesnt matter really , ancient history.

Bomber said he did want him. However, he couldn't guarantee Briers would get a game whilst Goulding occupied the spot. And since Goulding looked set to be Saints' scrum half for many years it would be criminal to prevent a player with Briers' skill from regular first team play. Especially as he was good enough to start for all but the top two or three clubs.
He also said Saints offered Briers a pittance. So, what would you do?
