saw that on the BBC , shame really as he is a good solid player but he has a point in what he's saying, especially for the more middle of the road players like him

reading his interview on sky sports news hes right in everything he says, theres no real money in rugby league, no real career like there is in comparasion to football, you damage your knee and you have to retire and have been at the club since school, come through the ranks you have nothing behind you, no qualifications, no nothing unless you are a superstar like the longys and scullys theres no money in our game, and like bryn said it took the situation at bradford for him to relise this and got offerd a job and couldnt turn it down because you need stability in your life and rugby league is not a stable path to take, you need quals and more players now are getting into coaching and colleges to give them a future after rugby league or in bradfords case they went bang and players were out of jobs and couldnt find clubs what do them players do ie, the acadamy players who are 16-20 who have been there since school carnt find new clubs, they have to start colleges and universitys 2-4 years later than they should have done i think the rfl need to draw up a plan and get players into getting qualifications to give them something to fall back on

I'm not sure how much he would have earned as a player, but am guessing that it was considerably more than the average wage. For a player who was average at best, that is pretty good to me, particularly when you consider that it is hardly a full time occupation. Players need to realise that they are in a short term, risky occupation, that pays well. They need to take responsibility for securing their own income and their own future. If they want to blow it all on fast cars and faster women, then fine, but don't whine about having nothing at the end of it. And if they are average, they shouldn't complain that they aren't earning a top wage. That's life, like it or lump it, my sympathy level, as you can maybe guess, is minimal.
