Does Wheeler really have a place at the club? He's done absolutely nothing this season to establish himself as a regular starter for Saints. He's had so many opportunities with the centre berth being wide open for him, but as ever he's shown no commitment and no desire to make it his. Instead we've seen Josh Jones come from nowhere and take that from him.

Unless Brown sees him as the long term answer in the halves, I'd say his goose has been cooked at Saints.

He really is one player that needs to be sent out on loan. We are getting no idea of whether he can make it at SL level or not, and at the minute, as you say, it appears he is heading for the exit into championship oblivion. Showed great promise in half a game against Wigan, and apart from that hasn't shone. At least he has had opportunities, and Saints can be fairly certain that when he goes, he isn't going to come back to haunt us. Will go well at Leigh for a season, and then be snapped up by Wakey.

Wheeler, by the standards of the day, is an utterly outstanding talent and should have been a GB regular by now. There is clearly something not quite right in his makeup however and he hasn't advanced his career even slightly in 3 entire seasons now and has been a crushing disappointment so far this season. He's heading towards the exit this time next year when his contract's up unless Brown can squeeze some life into him. My big fear is that being booted out by Saints might be the kind of rocket up the backside that he desperately needs and he'll haunt us in a Leeds or Wigan shirt for many years to come...
