| If this is the kind of cowardly act we can expect from him when it kicks off Id rather not see him in a Saints shirt again.

| Yeh but then some will say well done as they where wondering who would front up in a fight. Go back one or two weeks, there was a comment on threads about players not getting any back up and getting bullied by more agressive packs.

| I'll be honest, if you say it was embarrasing I'll take it as read. I'd have to see the fight again, as I was not quite sure why hock was so put out at having to scrum down. But I can't see you slating Magennis for no good reason.

| It wasn't anything like is being made out. Tuson was ultra aggressive when he went on and was clearly out for a fight. He'd had a go at Magennis and given him the verbals as well, so it wasn't as cold and sly an attack like is being made out.
Our whole team got out-enthused and out fought today. They were so motivated and up for the game and the start was a result of how the teams approached the game mentally. We can criticise Kong as much as we like for his lack of intelligence, but one thing he can do is motivate his team. They shoot up as a line, get numbers in the tackle and more than that, they put their all into each tackle, intending to hurt the ball carrier. They also persist with the attack to the standing leg once the held call goes in, just to slow the play the ball down. It's brilliantly effective, so you have to question why we're not copying them? We excatly the sort of side that would benefit from negative professionalism, yet we're far to disciplined. In contrast we don't move forward as a defensive line, often hanging back and waiting for the ball carrier. We then get fewer into the tackle and don't try to slow the game down.
Matching their aggression pretty much means you've beaten Wigan. Warrington do it well and it's why they have a lot less trouble beating Wigan than we do.

It's no good bringing fire to the enemy when you're the best part of thirty points down. Had he reserved his aggression for the opening ten minutes he might have been useful.
I suppose Magennis has to do SOMETHING to attract attention. Like Wheeler he's playing with the clock ticking in his ear. Sans some nugget of consistent form he's heading rapidly toward the exit. Maybe he'll flesh out, or his confidence will grow. But right now he's too small to threaten those ahead of him.
We really do need to think seriously about the number of forwards we're promoting from the academy who quite clearly don't have the frame to develop into players who can challenge the established pros. It's not healthy for competition and makes players too safe for our good.

I don't go on other teams forum much so I don't know if you are being serious or not? But in what way was Tuson being ultra-aggressive? He hasn't even done anything in the past which has deemed him to be an aggressive player. Also if Magennis cannot take a few verbals from Tuson and doesn't like being having a go at, then maybe he shouldn't be in Rugby League. But instead he would rather wait till its calmed down, Tuson turns his back and then decides to give him a whack.
It is inexcusable and any Saints fan who in there right mind would try and justify what he's done need to take a good look at themselves.

| I really don't understand all the fuss. Magennis threw a few punches. But then so did quite a few players. The real issue here is whether three red cards in what was a pretty unremarkable game (relatively speaking) is appropriate. I mean, if that's all it takes to get sent off these days we'll soon be down to watching five-a-side rugby.

| The main issue with Magennis is that he didn't start throwing the punches until Tuson was facing the other way. The most passion any of the Saints players showed all day though...

I think the scoreline at the time had a huge significance on the outcome of the incident.
I reckon if the game was a close affair then only yellow cards would have been issued, but seeing as the game was over, the red cards would not really affect the outcome of the game.

| The sin-bin may have been sufficient! never has a game dragged following the sending offs! and a lot of neutral fans choose to go home early, unfortunate after a good weekend.

| Good on him I say. It's a fight between two teams and cheap shots get threw all the time. I wish they would all get stuck in like Maggenis did. The 3rd man in shirt grabbers are the ones that really grind my gears the likes of TP and Meli come over to split up a fight and grab our player to pull him away and it's like he's being held for free shots from the opposition. I was disappointed none of our so called forwards had a go at Mossop for his cheap shot on Maggenis aswell.

You do know Mossop hit Magennis in reaction to him punching Tuson when his back was turned? I'm all for a bit of biff if both players are aware but that was cowardly.

| Magennis doesn't really appear to be the sharpest tool in the box though either.

| It was more or less handbags, Ben Thaler went overboard on confused info from the linesmen on an incident that ruined the game as an event, and put a damper on the whole weekend tournament, (the only other blot was the Warrington, Widnes debackle.) I don't think the touchies expected Thaler to throw a wobbler and see red, what a joke, yellows at worst, it seemed that what was the start of the piece was just a rubbing of nuts with Hock and Louie Mc, which seemed to move into some kind of yed-to-yed dance, not much more than that. The Magennis v Tuson match-up was a bit more of a seeing-to, but it was a hot day, a bad game for the Saints, and no doubt a bit of gob from both sides. THE REAL FOOL WAS THALER. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YELLOW!! IF ANYTHING?.
Rock 'n' Roll.
