Always sceptical about things like this. You never hear a club come out and say "This is the worst pre-season ever" do you? It's always the best one, it's like GCSE results, things seem to get better year on year.

Are Saints not doing an overseas training camp this year? Would have thought with the personnel turn around a week spent together would be very beneficial.

Yeah, same here. It's all well and good but no doubt the club said similar things last year and the year before. We won't really know until the season begins, although obviously I'd expect them to be improving pre-season fitness levels etc every season.

I was quite impressed how sharp we were at the open training session though, sharper than we were during some of our warm ups during the last season which is unusual. Hopefully that will be an indication that we'll be sharper with ball in hand in 2012.

I think RS was asked this a few months ago and he said no because the players have all they need at Cowley and they'd been using the new 3G pitch since it was installed.Considering the amount on money Saints spent upgrading the training facilities it makes sense to stay here.

He also said that the money has gone on the new stadium.

I don't think we looked like one of the better physically equipped team last year, but we weren't too bad.
What I want/hope for is a general lack of injuries and the "usual suspects" to string a decent run of games together.
