| I wish him well. He's always been committed.
Was he still under contract or was he free to walk?

Think he had a year left but i might be wrong,He signed last month (but it wasn't announced until your season was over,) Simmons was aware of it and gave him permission to look for other clubs , there were another couple of SL teams interested but Salford came up with a 3 yr deal..i think you've let a good one go there

Agree. He isnt the finished article but for a forward to have played over 50 first grade games when only 21 years old shows he is no mug.
With maturity he should get stronger and become a strong fast wide running backrower. He has already shown glimpses.
I think the issue is that Saints have looked at what is coming through and think we have better players in the pipeline so to speak.

Who?
Let us not forget that Ashurst has been around a pretty long time. Any replacement coming up from the academy will need as much time or more to acclimatise to SL. Which means he might not be replaced fully for two years. That's no small period of time.

47035_1386433761.gif We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif |

| I think Ashurst knew the writing was on the wall at Saints, good move for him.
As for back rowers we have a fair few in front of Ashurst next year.
Wilkin, Sia, flannaghan, dixon, megennis (although he may become a prop),lafranchi, flannery.
Oh and scotty moore if he stays.
thats 7 players I can think off for 2 spots, 8 if you count moore. Was AShurst would have been fortunate to get a game next year.
Time for him to make a name for himself whilst he was still in our first team, next year his value may have dropped. we already have the next generation coming through and waiting would do him no good. All those 19 and 20 year olds given 2 year deals will can have there turn to break through now.
