| Completely dominated and out-smarted tonight. We seem obsessed with not giving away penalties at the ruck, on a few occasions tonight we were up and away from the tackle before our defensive line was even set! How we can expect to get on the front foot playing like that is beyond me. Alibert is fond of letting the game flow and Wigan exploited that perfectly, they controlled the collision superbly and nullified our threat from the ruck.
Very disappointing, and not for the first time against one of the decent sides in SL. Our record against the other top 4 teams is shocking and whilst I'm trying not to get carried away I don't think this set of forwards (with only Clough to come back now) is good enough to get to a GF quite frankly.

| I thought Alibert let them have a lot of time in the tackle,im not blaming him for the loss at all as we were given a lesson tonight in the forwards, our defence at marker at times was dire and there was lack of comunication all round.
The pack needs beefing up a bit as we lose so much when Graham,TP and Sia go off.

| on the subject of men against boys-what about Magennis?
Is this guy average or what-he should be plying his trade with Leigh or similar.

Wigan didn't receive a penalty in the second half. Saints had three (it may have been four) so it's a bit harsh having a go at Alibert.

| Im not for a moment saying Wigan didnt deserve to win as they were the better side and gave us a lesson in forward play, but i do think there was a slight disparity in the time in the tackle, there were a lot of hands in knocking the ball out Carmont did exactly that right next to the linesman and it was so blatant even Stevo and Eddy mentioned it yet there was nothing given.
The best team won,i cant argue with that, they played as a team and had a lot of team spirit and it showed.

| Simmons in his after game comments blamed the team for not sticking to the game plan-what exactly was it?

To be fair you did that to Charnley and Coley as well.

No they didn't. Saints are so eager to get off the tackled player that they scramble off too early. We need to hold down longer and get more numbers into the tackle. Defense is something we are majorly lacking in.

47035_1386433761.gif We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif |

| Is it just me or was that like watching a replay of the last 4 grand finals. Wigan ran the ball harder and for longer. Our forwards fell off the pace of the game, where as Wigan just kept going.
They took the ball to the flanks alot quicker than us too.
Wellens and Makinson got taken apart by Wigan. It just seamed everytime Wigan ran at our line they got their heads through the tackle and pushed, where as we were full of people stopping before the tackling line and trying to go around them.
Just lacked people wanting to do the hard yards. Whether that was down to exiles or not it makes little difference. When we got a bit of a roll on, suddenly our forwards where starting to push harder. But it was too late.
To add to the grand final feeling Meli had alot of dropped ball, but at least it was going forward and not over the try line.
Basically it was a poor game from us for 40 - 60 minutes. Does not make us a poor side, just means we had a poor day and where not at the same level as Wigan today. The last 2 matches we were. So it can be done and in those last 2 matches we had an arguably poorer side. We can have no excuses. But in the high intensity games we have to worry whether this could happen again.

That sums it up for me from the first try Wigan scored. We could not be bothered. It was like Harlequins revisited.

| Chill out FFS - typical Saints fans. We had a bad game, they were very good. Blah. Get over it. It happens.
Take defeat graciously and accept we were 2nd best without reservation. Next week is another week.
PS: Told you Simmons was crap....

He mentioned running off Roby. When we do that we are good. When we don't, we aren't. Other than that he mentioned our inability to hold on to the ball and being beaten on the ground in the first half. He didn't mention a game plan at all, except for running off Roby.
