Anybody got any idea whether its feasible to make a ten o'clock train from Widnes station after an 8 o'clock kick off. Or if not any rough estimates on how much a taxi would be back to Liverpool?

I think you'd do well to guarantee being at the station for 10.00pm, assuming you want to stay until the hooter.

As for a cab to Liverpool, I'd reckon around £20-25.

If the games on sky you'll be struggling,you can add an extra 5/10 minutes on till the game finishes.Its a good 20 minute walk to the station.jonnysaints right about the taxi price,it cost me £25 from liverpool to St Helens a few months ago,if you can drop on a cab outside the ground you might make it back to the station,tbh your best bet is an early get away if you want to get to widnes station,depending on the score of course !

Cheers for your help guys, I think I might chance my look and leave a couple of minutes early and get a jog onto the station. Could be tough leaving early if its tight at the end though! Don't fancy the taxi back to Liverpool if I can avoid it.

Avoid getting a taxi back at all costs, at that time of night aswell you're looking over £30 id say

If you're going to Leeds on the night wouldn't it be easier to go to Warrington?

However, if you're staying in Liverpool the night then your best bet is to get the 79c

Have a pint and get the 23.07.

As a Widnesian who lives on the route, the bus is by far your best bet.

You only have to walk to the Albion and there is 2 different buses that are every 15 minutes up until about 7 and then they are every half hour until about 11:30. It takes about 40 minutes which isn't that different than the train and quicker when you consider walking and waiting. If you come from Liverpool you can get a day ticket for £3 as well, otherwise it's about £2.50.

The two buses are the 14 and the 79C which are almost exactly the same route.
