| 1 - Wellens 6/10 quality tackle to deny a try but looked pedestrian for the Hansen try, Meli's interaction or not he wasn't dealing with that kick
2 - Gardner 5/10. Got away with a Meli moment and should have done better in attempting to stop Hansen. Ran the ball hard as ever.
3 - Shenton 6/10. Quiet on debut but looks lively going forward. Some iffy defense down his side of the field for Carmont's stroll in.
4 - Lomax 5/10. Didn't notice he was on the field to be honest.
5 - Meli 7/10. Controversial I know. He's an idiot, but it's not his fault so I can't hate him for it anymore. Did well with the ball.
6 - Wheeler 5/10. Same as Lomax. Although to be fair whichever one of them was marking Gleeson did well defensively.
7 - Eastmond 5/10. Looked knackered throughout but didn't get injured. Minor miracle and still looks out most potent weapon although it wasn't his night. Has to hurry up on his stay/leave decision quickly so he can refocus on the rugby. Nearly cost us the game with his chip over the top late on when drilling it deep inside their half would have been the better option.
8 - Graham 7/10. Worked hard. Looks to have aged about 5 years since the GF. Looks like a man carrying the world on his shoulders. He needs to make his decision public and do it quickly.
9 - Roby 10/10. Just sensational I thought. I feel like I've done 12 rounds with Tyson just watching him. The Wigan players must hate playing against him.
10 - LMS 8/10. Quality I thought. A rich man's Bryn Hargreaves.
11 - Wilkin 9/10. Bloody sensational. All you haters can keep on hating. He's still fantastic and he's still gorgeous.
12 - Puletua 8/10. Quality for the try and a couple of offloads late on. Seemed to be in cruise control throughout.
13 - Soliola 5/10. Cost us their first try and knocked on from the next set. Seems really dumb as a player. Should be used as an impact player IMO.
14 - Dixon 6/10. Did fine, looked very lightweight
15 - Foster 5/10. Did nothing wrong but still can't kick goals.
16 - Moore 7/10. Worked tirelessly I thought.
17 - Clough 6/10. Quiet and reliable as ever.

No, he was. He was the driving force behind the unlikely comeback.

| Allow me to moderate/10 quality tackle to deny a try but looked pedestrian for the Hansen try, Meli's interaction or not he wasn't dealing with that kick. flat footed
6 - Wheeler 7/10. Same as Lomax. Although to be fair whichever one of them was marking Gleeson did well defensively. Was OK apart from the odd headless chicken routine - was also let down by eastmond being out of position leaving him like a solo player at pass the parcel
7 - Eastmond 4/10. He can p&ss off as far as I am concerned if he plays with that attitude and lack of respect
Thought he was pretty average personally. Has he lost a bit of weight?
11 - Wilkin 8/10. Bloody sensational. All you haters can keep on hating. He's still fantastic and he's still gorgeous.
12 - Puletua 8/10. Quality for the try and a couple of offloads late on. Seemed to be in cruise control throughout. OTT comments.
13 - Soliola 7/10. Cost us their first try and knocked on from the next set. Seems really dumb as a player. Should be used as an impact player IMO. No no no. He had a fine game. One of our best players. What are you on?
14 - Dixon 6/10. Did fine, looked very lightweight. Harsh!
15 - Foster 5/10. Did nothing wrong but still can't kick goals.
16 - Moore 6/10. Worked tirelessly I thought. Yes but little invention
17 - Clough 6/10. Quiet and reliable as ever.'"

| Wellens - 5/10. Other than a great tackle on Charnley, I thought he was a shadow tonight. Gets our sets off to pedestrian starts.
Gardner - 6/10. Average. Good first 20 mins but just faded into obscurity afterwards.
Shenton - 6.5/10. Solid and will do very well against most other defences in the league.
Lomax - 5/10. Low because other than the last 10 mins I can't recall him getting the ball!!
Meli - Difficult! Take away 'that' bomb and its 7/10, with that its closer to 5/10! We'd miss his yards if he's not there.
Wheeler - 6/10. Tried hard but lacking support in a disappointing backline. Stood too deep in attack.
Eastmond - 4/10. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, he mustn't be fit. Otherwise his effort was woeful. Should've got the drop goal!
Graham - 7/10. Not his best but still effective.
Roby - 10/10. Praise the lord for this 4 year contract! Out of this world in effort and impact.
LMS - 7/10. Won the collision several times. Great signing imho. Very mobile.
Soliola - 7/10. In attack he ran with venom and caused problems. Would like more minutes but the signs were good.
Wilkin - 6.5/10. Ran great lines, typical Wilkin. Felt he got in the way of some good opportunities in the 1st half.
Moore - 6.5/10. Not too bad. Still worry he'll throw a wayward ball though. Worked hard.
Clough - 6.5/10. Can't complain, never can, probably had better games but did nothing wrong.
Puletua - 6.5/10. Almost a 7 but maybe didn't quite do enough minutes to deserve it. Class player though.
Dixon - 5/10. I do like him but seems a bit submissive to me! Needs a bit more mongrel or ooomph!
Foster - 5/10. Not much chance to do much. Goal kicking is falling away at a worrying rate.

| I agree with Saddened with the exception of Moore. I don't understand why we have him in the team. He adds nothing. He's too small for a forward, too slow for a back, and Roby is quite capable of playing the full 80. Moore is effectively a dead tackle with the ball. I thought his game was summed up at our first try. He was closest to the offload, but missed it because he'd turned his back on play, so Roby - far more alert - took the ball from further back and was offloading himself from the floor to put Wilkin in before Moore realised nobody was playing the ball.
I'm a bit worried about Lomax and Wheeler. I've not seen too much of them, as I only get to watch TV games, bu I've not yet seen either of them do anything which suggests they're any more competent than Ste Tyrer, Joey Hayes, Tim Jonkers etc. If they're our great hope, I hope they develop a bit more quickly than they seem to be doing.
Roby MoM for me, closely followed by Wilkin and Puletua. Apart from two chips, one of which he knocked on (unseen( and one of which was a terrible decision towards the end, Eastmond did nothing in that game except get caught out of position in defence, and walk two steps before passing the ball predictably. His worst performance in a Saints shirt that I've seen.

He was a fraction better than his usual crap self. Had a good 15 min spell in the second half but that's about it.
IMO he's not good enough. At times he looks like a little boy playing against men. The sooner his contract is up and he joins hull kr the better.
I've not read the rest of the posts from the one above that I'm quoting but somebody will say he ran good lines.

| I'll get in on this cause i am depressed from watching warrington. I would like tosay i really enjoyed myself as a Saints fan yesterday. Real intensity. Why does your team fo that to you?
Wellens - 7/10 didn't really do anything wrong and some of his catches on the full were magnificent. Shame about his lack of pace
Gardner - 4/10 did nothing, from my memory, or worth.
Shenton - 5/10 looked rusty. Hope he wasn't (from a wire POV)
Lomax - 5/10. "Needs to improve on his handling skills"
Meli - 7/10 Defense great! Attacking Great! few niggles but looked solid.
Wheeler - 5/10. was a abit of a ghost. Looked good in places/ Stupid game threatnening penalty though. very ameteur mistake
Eastmond - 7/10. Drop goal was bad. Led w/o Pryce well and looked up for it. good kicking, plus has a lot on his plate (injuries, career)
Graham - 2/10. I cringed when he got the ball. For Graham's fearsome standards it was terrrible. Still the best prop in the league but he was slow and ineffective for most of his input. **sorry**
Roby - 10/10. Far and away the best performance to be seen for a few weeks. Did nothing wrong and scored an EXCELLENT try!!!
LMS - 8/10. Quick, effective and no mistakes.
Soliola - 7/10. a lot of errors but strong runs
Wilkin - 9/10. led soe great runs and didn't put a foor wrong. Excellent showing.
Moore - 5/10. Not great. Not bad. Should have stepped more ImO
Subs
Clough - 6/10. went in hard. did his job well.
Puletua - 8/10. goes hard and fast. Great Try that broke the game.
Dixon - 5/10. Didn't burst onto the scene.
Foster - 4/10 Kicked well but he seems the wrong shape for a rugby player. Was needed for the win though

Wilkin was excellent yesterday. He was vigourous throughout and was one of our few players who looked capable of penetrating the defence. I suspect you have a personal dislike for Wilkin which clouds your judgement of his performances somewhat.

I don't know him so can't have a personal dislike of him.
However, I think he's been carried for the last 3yrs by saints. Very very poor for a so called superstar.
I think he had a 15/20 min spell in the 2nd half which was the nearest we've seen to the 2006 wilkin.
I find watching him very frustrating as he's got all the tools to be a good club player but he's not a overrated work horse.

| Wilkin needs to decide what role he wants to play and then stick to it. If he wants to be a ball handler, then go for it. If he wants to be a wide running forward then ditto. May not be his fault of course - I'm sure coaches love versatility, but I'm not sure it has helped him personally become the player he could be.

Well, if you don't know him and yet you put him down at every opportunity then that is a very sad state to be in.
I thought Wilkin was great on Saturday night. Plus the fact that his new slimmed down self means he looks gorgeous.
