Rolls could indeed be a 'positively inspired choice'! We don't know yet.

They've already appointed McDermott.
But Hetherington is flying over to Aus to sign up some top dollar NRL talent. Shame our top dog hasn't got that kind of vision.

Reverse our and Leeds position and I guarantee you'd be saying:
"Re-signing a load of old players who fell well short this season whilst Leeds sign Perry, LMS and Shenton and Wigan sign their Melbourne trio, then leaving recruitment til the last minute when most of the top Aussies are signed up.
McManus is losing the plot and our slide into mediocrity continues."

Personally, I think our top dog has a better kind of vision. Certainly the kind I prefer. Sign Aussie castoffs/soon-to-be-homesickies at a rate of one every few years, sign some good English potential and create great opportunities for our home grown talent. That, to me anyway, is far better vision.

It is for long term stability.
BUT we will not win any trophies with the squad we have as we have no world class players and absolutely no strike players bar Kyle 'I'll be fit once a month' Eastmond who looks to be off to Union at the end of the season anyway.
The kids we've put so much faith in over the past few seasons aren't great players, they are merely solid SL level young players. Solid, reliable, trophyless.

James Graham is clearly world class, at the very least.

You wouldn't call Pryce a strike player? Roby? Meli scored 21 tries in 20 games, would you not say that is a decent strike rate? Shenton made a decent fist of looking like a strike player against the World Champions last weekend.
We did pretty well to be the leagues top scorers in 2010 with no strike players and half the back division out injured.
Of course I could have avoided typing all the above by just saying "b*llocks as per usual" but I'm full of energy first thing in the morning.

| Is anyone going to pay top dollar for Eastmond until he can show he won't be injured so much of the time? Great prospect though, and I hope he both stays fit and with Sts.

Is a gamble, certainly.
People fussed (at the end of last season) when he only signed an extension to the end of 2011, but it was clearly intended to reveiw his first actual season at scrum half to make sure he was up the position, before making him sign another extension around now (without other suiters sniffing about).
In actual fact, he played the first half of the season and played it very well. Unfortunalty, that seems a long time ago and his string of crappy injuries are extremely frustrating. I can't imagine Big Mac sitting down to discuss further contracts.
There's no question of his ability, but until he can keep himself fit, he's going to remain reletively unproven. There's also going to be that doubt that he's just a bit soft with injuries that the likes of slimey sam would play on with.

To be fair, Sam left the pitch with a hip knock last weekend - something Kyle was ridiculed for a couple of months ago.
Didn't make Sam soft, just made him injured.
