| If Kyle isn't 100% we've got an enormous task on our hands. They are superb defensively and without Kyle's pace we're only going to be scoring kicks from 5 metres out. Getting there against Wigan won't be easy either if the referee allows them to dominate the play the balls through allowing them 8 or 9 seconds to get off the grounded player.

| Yes,Wigan's defence was excellent tonight-wish we showed that much intensity.
Think every try we scored last night was on the back of a penalty ,enabling us to start the set virtually in their 20.

I don't think our first half tries were as a result of penalties? Did we get any penalties in the first half? I thought they were all awarded against us in the first half?

| we have little to no chance against the pies IMO
Our only hope is to get penalties then have the King weave his magic. If the pies target Keiron and take him out the game. Something i expect them to do. Then it will be game over and an easy victory by 20-30 points by Wigan.
The signs were there against Hudds, who just ripped us apart for long periods. it was only when the King was on the field that we looked like we had a clue what to do with the football.
The positive thing from Saints perspective is making a grand final without hardly ever having two fit halves, often playing matches with effectively just 15 fit players in the squad. Even against Hudds we went into the first half with only 12 men on the pitch and in the second half we were down one rotation player.
Last night was i feel our cup final.
Put it this way. IF we do defeat Wigan in the final. It will be one of the greatest victories ever.

And those periods tied in beautifully with when we had an injured no.7 on the park. Having been all changed around to facilitate Kyle we then had to all change around again to facilitate him not being there. AND we had to play with one interchange down as a result. So no wonder we were ripped apart for long periods, given that Hudds were damned determined and very good players. Cunningham saved us in the second half but how we would have fared with better composure and a fully functioning backline is anyone's guess, because we didn't have it.
I think we have a desire this season that I haven't seen before. We don't have the cockiness of when we were in our pomp, immediately post-2006. We are a creative halfback down, yes, but if we play Smith at 7, leave out Kyle altogether, have a determined pack and a tight defence (drop Meli, for instance) then there is no reason at all why we can't beat Wigan. We beat them with fewer experienced players at their place. It's 50:50 between us.

Are you for real ? Little to no chance against Wigan ?
This Wigan side is a well drilled defensive unit and little else. Saints pack is far superior to the Wigan pack and Wigan will not enjoy the superiority they had tonight against Leeds. If we kick well, which with Matty Smith playing I expect us to do so, then Saints are favourites comfortably in my view. It will be tough but frankly winning at Old Trafford should be. However I would be far more nervous were I a Wigan fan.

As a Wigan fan i hope your negativity is right , but personally i think it will be a close affair , i do agree that Wigan will start as favourites , but anything can happen in a game of RL especially a final (i was at wembley in '98 when we lost to sheffield).. i said at the start of the season that i thought we would make the top 3 and anything else would be a bonus , and here we are ..i can't wait for next week and whatever the score both teams can look back on the season with a sense of pride.

| I must have been watching a different game, I watched two poor teams tonight, If Wigan turn up at old trafford like they did tonight the Saint will murder them.
Both sides had little or no game plan what so ever, their structure was almost non existant, Huddersfield would have beaten both of them.

| Wigan are favourites but only slightly. They can defend the line, we can't so it's a game that's theirs to lose

Doesn't matter. Wigan are superb defensively. They get three or four men into every tackle, even if two of them are technically flops. They then hold on, waiting not for the first move call, but the second. They then peel off one by one and 8 or 9 seconds later the opposition faces a set line of defenders who are rapidly encroaching. That IMO is the main reason they are where they are in the table and in the Grand Final.
What Saints require is a strong willed refereeing performance.
