| Harlequins - Eastmond 6 from 6
Toulouse - Foster 8 from 8
Leeds - Foster 8 from 8
Is this some sort of record for us?
Last kick we missed was Eastmonds relatively easy one against Wigan which would have put us within 4.

| Picking Foster to kick is all well and good but when Meli is fit Potter will drop Foster and Kyle will have to kick and he'll be out of practice?

The players kick hundreds of goals in practice - not kicking for a weekend isn't going to have much impact on Kyle's ability to do it the weekend after.
For all we knew the Leeds game might have been won by 2 points either way, in which case you'd want Foster kicking the goals.

Hardly likely as I suspect both will practice in training. I think that people who've seen Foster at u18 and u20 levels like Rogues (and wash my mouth out with soap here ... ) will backup the fact that he is the best goal kicker at the club at any level, that said when he is in the team he should be kicking.

| But its not like Kyle has been in bad form with the boot. Its not like last year when we've had Longy missing goals from in front of the sticks every week. Kyle has been extremely dependable all season with the boot, kicking two pointers from the touchline for fun. We shouldn't keep Meli out of the side purely to keep Foster in for his kicking ability, when we've got one of the most dependable kickers in the comp wearing the #7.

| I'm happy in keeping the goal-kicking duties away from Eastmond - period. Kicking places enormous stresses on the body that can lead to long-term injuries down the line. The role of primary playmaker is mentally and physically stressful. Given that Kyle is still young and developing we should attempt to mitigate the load placed upon him as much as possible. In Sculthorpe, we already have bitter memories over what happens to a player when he assumes TOO MUCH responsibility.
I'm all for showing Gardner and Meli the door so it shouldn't be difficult to find a spot for Foster (provided he's up to it). Let Kyle be his backup. It will make a refreshing change from the appalling unprofessional attitude Saints have had toward kicking for years.

| Giving Foster the kicking duties is a sound strategy, imo. Young lad who we know can play good footy, but is taking his time to catch up physically. Letting him kick goals is obviously no risk to the team, but his success for the first team must settle his nerves and boost his confidence, which will help the rest of his game develop, i reckon.

I don't think goalkicking has that much of an effect to be honest. Look at Fitzgibbon he took them for decades in the NRL and he's still going strong. There are certain players who it's not advisable for, those with groin problems, but kicking a football isn't stressful to the body.

Garbage. Where have you got that from?
I'd love to see evidence to show that kicking with proper technique can lead to this. Sounds like it has been taken out of the 'kids running in the playground is dangerous' school of thought.

| Sculthorpe admitted that goalkicking aggravated his persistent groin problems. It's the reason kicking duties were taken off him on several occasions.

True, but that isn't kicking leading to long-term injury, that is player with a chronic groin problem taking kicking out of his game as a preventative measure.

Picking up a cup of tea was a big risk of straining a finger muscle for Scully.
