| If you set off an hour earlier than you had planned for your visit to the Galpharm on Sunday, then you will have some time to visit the Rugby League Heritage Centre. It is located in the basement of the famous George Hotel quite close to the main railway station.
There you will find a large collection of items of Rugby League history including century old digitised photographs, cups, medals, press cuttings, jerseys and more. There are also three plasma TV screens showing matches both recent and pre war and including test matches in Australia.
There is a good selection of recently published books, novels and magazines and Sam the manager will be there ready to answer any questions and talk at length about what he knows a lot about.
Entrance is free as well.
Well worth a visit for any serious rugby league fan.

| Isn't it strange that this appears on every message board on here when that team is due to visit Huddersfield? And I though advertising was not allowed

Its not allowed, for example a little known fact is that The Barn at Holmfirth ( www.thebarnatholmfirth.co.uk ) is only about 11 miles from the Galpharm, it seems more huddersfield folks know about The Barn at Holmfirth, than they do about the Rugby League Museum.
THE BARN IS FOR LIFE !

Never been to the Barn. Is it somewhere you would reccommend in a purely RL sense as opposed to commercial / advertsing perspective.

Don't you think it's a great idea to advertise the RL Heritage Centre whether it's free or not? Surely you can see the benefit of people going to the Heritage Centre?
FWIW I have been and it is a fascinating place. Seeing the old team sheets and details of payments is an incredible moment. We never really get a sense of what a great history our sport has and we often lose focus of the challenges previous generations have overcome both on and off the field. Amazing place and well worth a visit. It's a bit low on interactivity and places a lot of emphasis on reading, however if you're able to read then it's great.

Bob on la.
Somewhere I plan every year to go to, and usually, I miss the Hudds match for one reason or another.
If we can't advertise something like this for cock all, we may as well hide our game behind closed doors and tell the media to go away.

| A must for anyone who loves the game.
Sam Morton, the guy that runs the place is an absolute treasure - get into a conversation with him and you'll be there a lot longer, he's a goldmine of info on "The Greatest Game"
