Maybe he as a coaching job lined up once he retires ?

| Really? That is nice to see.
Scully and Long as a coaching combo would certainly inject the passion back onto the terraces and into the players that we need to get out of this 'transition' hole we've dug for ourselves recently.

That depends on if he turns out to be a good coach or not.

| Kez said in the Hull Daily Mail that he is looking to be on the coaching team next season but also stated that he would love to coach alongside Justin Morgan one day. Maybe those two will be the next Welsh dream coaching team!!
As for Longy its good to see him still putting something back into the game. Its given him so much through his life its only fair he helps to nurture the new Sean Long and boy does the English game need another half back like him or better!

That would just be a sideways move though.
Look how Mcguire has rejuevanted WIgan and he was only an assistant.
We need an NRL coach

Potter came from the NRL and he's nothing to write home about. If someone 'great' came up then fine, but we shouldn't go down thre route of appointing someone just because they are Antipodean with experience in the NRL.
Saints need a coach who has the ability to motivate players, inspire them even. We need someone who can get the best from limited resources compared to the other strong teams.

He came from coaching a youth side down under and went to Catalans for his initial first grade coaching post. So far as I remember from the info given to us before his arrival here he's never had first grade NRL coaching experience.

In other words, we need a good coach? (You've just described what a good coach does, anyway)

| McGuire has done a good job on the fitness, that is apparent. But it was very cheering to see them lose tonight in the dying moments. I agree with Saddened - you only have to watch the team when Keiron comes on the pitch - if there was ever a prayer of him being their coach, I think he could inspire them beyond belief. Him and Scully, and Longy if he comes back in a coaching capacity. They could make something out of nothing, never mind what we already have; with the talented youth recruitment policy Saints have, well.....add to that some seasoned players plus a couple of proven overseas players and we really will live up to the expectations of us all.
And any of those three would give us the passion that our current coach cannot possibly feel for Saints. I've not seen any passion in him at all, I realise some people are reserved by nature but none of them above are lacking and their passion is red vee orientated. It would be good I reckon.

Allow me to cite a wise man, rlKahlil Gibran (On Reason and Passion)rl
Quote: Saint_Claire "For reason, ruling alone, is a force confining; and passion, unattended, is a flame that burns to its own destruction.
Therefore let your soul exalt your reason to the height of passion, that it may sing;
And let it direct your passion with reason, that your passion may live through its own daily resurrection, and like the phoenix rise above its own ashes.'"
In this instance, reason is the game plan and structure on the pitch. This passion we are all demanding is pointless if we are out there unguided.
I must be in the minority in not expecting much more visual burning on the field. I prefer the cool, calm and in control attitude we take out. There is a certain assurdeness in that swagger of, yeah, we're two tries down, but we'll win, attitude.

Passion alone isnt good enough. There is no point looking through rose tinted specs about past players and how we should appoint them because they used to be good players for us.
