What are your favourites moments from them?

My favourite Gilmour moment has to be his try at Cardiff 2004 followed by that try he scored at the Bulls a couple of years ago in, IIRC, the cup. He's been very consistent for us, never let us down and has gotten up off the floor more times than Floyd Patterson. You can knock him down but you can't knock him out. 100% commitment from him every time he takes to the field.

As for Longy, well so many to choose from. I think I'll have to write a piece about Long because he is one of the most memorable players of the past decade. He has excelled despite not being blessed with natural playmaking skills. My favourite Long moment? Do I pick his touchline kick in the Super League IV Grand Final? What about his drop goal to beat the Bulls 19-18? Too incredible moments, however my favourite has to be his Lance Todd Legend performance at Cardiff. Not just one of his best games but also against Wigoon in a Challenge Cup Final. He sealed a dream for me.

Edwards (and Goodway) were far better players than Long and Gilmoor.
Look at Edwards record, unsurpassed.

He was a genius and is respected. Look at what he has done in RU.
Do you think Long will EVER be classed in the same league?

How many International caps have they won? Did Edwards ever bring the game into disrepute?

Did Long ever get near Edwards try scoring feats?

Just because players never hang around long enough at wigan to get a send off, doesnt mean we cant send off two great players who even now, would walk into wigans team

I generally find your posts quite interesting and well balanced (for a wiganer). However your initial reply could only have been made to derail the topic. Trying to unnecessarily belittle the achievements of two very good players.

Edwards was a long way from being a genius. He was a player with average skills, but with a determination and winners mentality that helped him eek out his full potential. He was also helped by playing in a dominant Wigan team that was full of full time professionals cherry picked from around the league, playing against teams with part time players.
