| Wondered if anyone knew of any good pubs in Newcastle/Gateshead to watch the FA Cup Final in prior to the Saints game.

I'm sorry the North East of the country don't drink, they're pretty strict about it. They hate football even more.
MUCH!
I don't think you'll have to go very far to find an establishment!

Why not post a request on the Thunder board as well? They've mentioned a couple of places in their Saints thread I think.

Most pubs in Gateshead/Newcastle will have the match on. The Union Rooms in Newcastle (near the Central Station is a good place for watching sport - it's a Wetherspoons so is cheap as chips)
Quite a few to choose from in Newcastle and the Stadium is only 10 minutes away from Newcastle by Metro.
Great site for pubs here, take your pick

As previously mentioned the closest pub to the ground is The Schooner. Good food, good beer and friendly. If you want food it may be worth booking in advance as it does get busy. Map of the Schooner here, go into satellite mode and you can see how close the ground is

Plenty of pubs in Felling as well (1 stop from ground on Metro)

| try the sports bar in the corner of the Gate that has huge screens everywhere an dthe FA cup final will be on. The Gate is pretty much the busiest place in Newcastle CC nowadays anyway. The quayside will be dead, the bigg market is full of chavs (although scousers will probably feel at home amongst the tracksuited council estate dwellers who drink in the big market
)
Otherwise for a night out try Collingwood street, Perdu attic et al.
