I can't see both Dixon and Magennis remaining at Saints past contract end. Had Dixon's excellent early season form remained then possibly. But ever since being benched after the Salford(?) game he's returned to last year's standard. In hindsight that decision was silly. The kid should have been a nailed on starter for at least the next ten games.

Now I think he and Magennis are in a head-to-head scrap for one spot.

If the money offered was right I would see no problem with keeping them both on as they are both showing potential; it's whether that potential is transferred into actual talent which could be the issue. I suppose that is the case with young players across the board really, but more so with these two in particular who have yet to consistently show improvement.

Dixon's contract runs out at the end of this season I think, so a decision on his future will have to be made soon or has already been made.

Magennis' contract runs until the end of next season I believe so he still has time to prove his worth under NB.

Hull have offered manu a three year deal, be interesting to see what he does.

In all honesty I wouldn't give a 33yr old a 3yr deal. He's a good player but 3yrs is a long time for a 33yr old.

I hope we sign him on 2yr deal but I'd walk away from him if it's 3yrs.

It's a fair point and a risk by hull. Hopefully he will stay.

We should just match it. If by the end of the second season we don't want him, we just get the medical staff to give him a terminal outlook if he continues playing and retire him.

At least we know Hull are at the top of their cap space now.

Long deals for 33 year old has-beens are definitely Hull's territory and I'd leave them to it. I'd definitely have him for 1, probably for 2 but 3 is just way too long to risk.

Manu would be a really good signing on a 2 year deal IMO. I've looked at the list of non quota players available and he's the pick of the bunch by a long way. We're short of an attacking forward who can give us some impact.

A 2 year deal will be good for us. He'll only be 34 when he finishes the season in 2014
