Where in the south stand is it damaged?'"

So, out come the investigators, structural engineers etc etc, to find out what happened, what to do to fix it, and how to garauntee that it doesn't happen again.

I can't see it being a quick process. We're looking at a corner which, admittedly, there is a HUGE stress on corners, but is there an issue with anywhere else in the stadium....

Time will tell I guess....'"

It's not very often that I agree with Wigan Fans but I fully agree that spectator safety must be paramount when the investigatory work is carried out on the damaged corner and that a thorough check of the remaining roofing is completed. As I mentioned on another board that we do not want RL going down the route of Stadia Disaster as other Sports have in the past.

Sorry Simon, I hope you don't constitute the above as Trolling. It is most certainly not. If I were a Saints fan, I would be worried about starting the season at Langtree. If i were trolling, I would be saying "HA HA, no chance that's going to be ready", but I am not... this is serious, and I fail to see how anyone couldn't be worried, this late in the day, with such a catatrophic failure of the building.

As a person, I'd prefer nobody (Including Saints Fans) die, or be injured in the stadium through something that could've been prevented, and if preventing that means covering the first few games elsewhere, then so be it. If anyone finds this opinion wrong, or considers it trolling, they need to look at themselves very closely and consider where their priorities are.

all true, but calling Langtree park Poor in a previous post was a bit much.
Its not ideal, but it'll be sorted, Eamon will have parts of someone anatomy delivered on a platter, and all will be good in the world.

Look, Simon, I know you like to have a go but on this occasion I am repeating what has been stated. The figure of 70mph was again confirmed - by reference to meteoralogical data - on the local BBC news tonight. So don't bother arguing with me. Go contact the relevant authorities instead.

I could see feck all and that is likely to mean that others couldn't see much either. I wanted to see and be seen, both driving and when stationary. Once the rain began to ease from the torrential horizontal stuff I switched the fogs off.

gusts of upto 70mph are common place in the UK, all over the UK. It's a sustained speed that constitutes the actual wind speed and is what building's structual integrity is based upon.

Ok, so if there were 70mph gusts reported AT Langtree, and the roof seriously broke up, what would happen with an actual 70mph wind speed (also quite common in the UK now)... For a slight lift at 70mph, you could shrug and say "it's a 70mph gust", but not that amount of damage.

There IS a fault somewhere, there's Saints Fans all over here agreeing that there's a fault, everyone seems to be of the same opinion with exception yourself.

read my post again.
Even if it did gust to 70 mph, thats not a freak event, quite a normal winter storm. no other buildings were damaged and certainly none that were designed to hold 18000 people. If that happened during a game and the roof section landed in the crowd it would be a disaster and corperate manslaughter charges would follow

Fog lamps in the rain NO NO NO NO....they just dazzle other road users....called FOG lamps for a reason ya know

Fog Lamps can be used where visibility is less than 100m in front.

Rule 226

You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves (see Rule 236).

Rule 236

You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.

for further info see the following link
You really took the time to find and quote all that a014.gif

Still dazzle other road users in the rain though icon_cheers.gif
