He's very young, played two first team matches and you pick up on that? If in two or three years of playing week in and week out we have that problem, then I'll worry. Until then, he'll drop ball, miss tackles and make silly mistakes. But more power to his knee caps.

Well, it's a biggie because that's were their tries where scored - both Toulouse and Leeds. And I was only responding to Mugwump's claim that he is better. Which overall he is IMO, bar the goal line defence. And I didn't say he wasn't young or that his goal line defence won't improve. Just that it needs to, to be the better overall player that Mugwump thinks he is. He definitely has potential to be, that's for sure (Foster, that is, not Mugwump), and he should be given every chance to develop that potential.

I was talking about his kicking - not his defence. Foster has to be in the team in order for him to be selected ahead of Eastmond as kicker. If he isn't selected (for whatever reason) then the decision over who kicks the goals is an easy one.

My bad. I thought you were talking about him as an overall player (not defence in particular) and that is why I responded that he needs work on his goal line defence.
Without doubt he is a superb kicker. Quite freaky in that regard, really!

You think Foster is a better overall player than Eastmond bar his goal line defence?

| Quote: Mugwump "1. Kicking doesn't just aggravate injury - it can cause it. To claim otherwise is senseless.
2. RL is a tough sport. Around this point in the season it's likely that most players are carrying some kind of knock.
3. To say Eastmond is integral to our title challenge is an understatement. Without him we stand very little chance of winning SL.
Taking the above into consideration I think it's not just prudent but absolutely ESSENTIAL that we try to minimise the load on Eastmond's young shoulders - physical and psychological - when an EQUAL alternative (in all parts of the game - not just kicking) presents itself. And Foster isn't just an equal alternative - he's BETTER. Props to Potter for realising this and giving the kid his chance. We are certainly the richer for it.'"
1. Nobody did make such a claim
2 + 3 and the rest, all excellent points (although a complete change to the original one, and I assume that is because it was completely unsubstantiated), and I certainly agree that if we can lighten load on him psychologically or even give him a rest from time to time then we will reap the benefits come play-off time.
I would be rotating the squad constantly if possible. People are having a go at Nathan Brown for it at the moment, but one of Huddersfield's biggest problems last year was burnout.

No.
I've been having a different conversation with myself it would seem (having just re-read Mugwump's original post).
I need to lie down in a dark room.
Or have a nice glass of Aussie red.

You think kicking DOESN'T place enormous stress on parts of the body? You think the human body is ADAPTED to kicking a rugby ball upwards of fifty yards?
I guess there's no point me asking you whether you've seen a player pull up injured after kicking, then.

I don't think that goal kicking with correct technique can 'lead to long-term injuries down the line', absolutely not. In my time, I have never seen any evidence to prove this to be the case. Nor have I seen evidence of this in footballers, who compete in a sport that almost exclusively consists of kicking.
