| Quote: The Chief "We've said it before, going back as far as the injury to Longy from the late charge down at huddersfield, it won't take much for a slight rule change that would completely change the mindset of some players.
If a player suffers an injury as a direct result of foul play, the RFL then have the capacity to suspend the offender for the duration not exceeding the length of time the injured player is out of the game.
Job done.
It would prevent the head hunters and late challenges on half backs.'"
We don't need that rule, we just need the rules we have to be applied consistently and competently. It's quite simple.

How does the aussie points system work ? Would that not be a better option than the random bans we seem to dish out?

| Shouldn't Mr McManus ask questions of the Saints medical staff as to why a player was allowed to play for 78 minutes with a triple fracture of the cheek? I don't think the hand off to Burns by Dixon when he scored his try will have helped the injury.

Maybe they'd left their portable x-ray machine back at Langtree Park by mistake.

I suppose that is a possibility. I do know from experience that a Doctor can diagnose a facial fracture pretty accurately without the aid of an X-ray machine.

But he can only go off what Burns tells him, if he constantly played down pain levels, and didn't react to various pokes and prods, it's incredibly difficult

| Bottom line for me is that it was an obvious head shot so Burns should have been taken off the field and examined properly in the quiet of the dressing room. With a blow to the head if he gets back on within 15 minutes then it doesn't count in the interchange score. That's why this new rule was brought in and doctors should be strong enough to enforce it. A quick prod and poke whilst the game continues is just not good enough.

You'll probably find it's posts like this from Saints fans over the last few days that have got our backs up.
Quote: LFC Saint "You see, my dear boy, we are St Helens. This isn't some rugby league backwater where laps of the field are appllcable following victory. This is a place where the club, fans, players, man on the street, expect to win, demand victory even. Not hope, not pray for a decent cup draw - no, none of that level of desperation. This is a place where self importance is instilled precisely because we are important. Our name resonates throughout the game; it's why you do laps of the field following victory over ourselves; it's why when the cup draw is made, you pray our name isn't pulled out; it's why you aren't surprised when yet another trophy is placed in our cabinet - it's because we are St Helens. This is the kind of club that James Green will want to play for when he inevitably decides his present rugby league backwater is no longer for him. Right now, he's fine. Should he become good then the likes of St Helens will roll into town. Self importance is a part of being an establishment like our own; it's part of our make up, if you will.
On the challenge, well Green was a lucky boy; however now our chairman, the most respected in the game and a man whom the authorities listen to has spoken publicly. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Green is dragged back for a further hearing. You see again, when St Helens' chairman speaks, the RFL listen. That's part of being whom we are also.
Cheerio now.'"

To add context you should post the link to the thread with some of the rubbish your lot posted, also take a peek over on Cherry and White (sadly) and take a look further down the list on this forum for a gloating thread made by one of your clowns called foorrrward or something to that effect.
Being honest losing to HKR is an irritant , as long as we are in the running for trophies come season end (which we normally are) I and most Saints fans won't care one bit about this loss. What has wound us up is that one of your props (who admitted he didnt like Burns apparently - so decide yourself if it was intentional) took out a key player for us for an extended period with a late and very dirty hit for which he didnt get sent off then got an insulting 1 match ban.
If you don't like what were saying you might be better off sticking to the HKR board and arguing with your good friends over the other side of your city

| As usual McManus has spoken very well on a frustrating situation, hopefully the RFL will start taking notice of their inconsistency. No doubt Green should have received 3 or 4 matches as others in the past have.

Your simply guessing there unless of course you are a surgeon who has seen his x-rays and scans. It's just as likely it made no difference at all other than hurting like hell.

It's fair shout but the players themselves need to take some responsibility. Doctors should be able to tell the referee to order a player off if their being difficult, they've made it in football now that a doctor can't be overruled by a manager or coach

Except it only doesn't count if the ref puts it on report ... Which, as discussed, at length, he didn't. It is also only applicable if concussion is the diagnosis. Which it wasn't.
The doctors would have had a full opportunity to examine at half time, with no need to interchange, but they can only go off what Burns tells them
