) about how he feels the Saints board screwed him over by making him a pitiful contract offer (little better than his previous youth contract apparently) that forced him to leave. He may not have wanted to leave Saints per se, but he certainly wanted to leave a club that he felt undervalued him.

Anyway - all water under the bridge and it was best for all parties that he left when he did, so everybody's happy. We could do with him in the side now most certainly, but I somehow doubt he'dve waited in the stands for 15 years for Long, Martyn, Pryce and Sculthorpe all to retire so he could get his chance so the points moot.

Yes it does naturally, but it was always inevitable and better than the alternative of another week of false hope and then losing 6 in a row at OT, so I'm pretty stoical over it all on balance really. I'm feeling genuinely hopeful for the new season unlike this time last year which is the main thing

A periodic changing of the guard is inevitable at the top in a salary capped sport with a very limited talent pool - by the simple law of averages it had to be your lot eventually

Question is: can you equal our stunning and frankly incredible record of being at the top and competing for all the trophies every year for seventeen straight seasons in said limited, capped competition, or will you just be another 2 season wonder like Wigan who will be back in mid-table in a couple of seasons while we're still at the top?
