| Entertainment isnt always about winning, its the way you play the game. Incidentally i'd imagine we entertained our wigan friends yesterday !

You may do that, but for you to win there will need to be a massive turn around in attitude from some of your players (as well as a drop off in performance from ours).
The thing that would have annoyed me the most if I'd been a Saints fan (*shudders*) would not have how dull you were, but that Wigan looked like they wanted it more than Saints.
After losing the last game at KR I would have thought that your players would have been desperate to win yesterday. Criticise the likes of Hock and Tomkins all you want, but they really, really, really wanted to beat you. It wasn't just the Wiganers in the side though, all the team bought into that the derby ethos.

I'm keeping the faith at the moment and just as Wire lost after playing Wigan. The Leeds and Wire combination may have been a match too many for Saints to play wigan on the 3rd week. Maybe the effect of the new coaches has run it's course and it's back to our normal level. Maybe it was having only one pivot. Maybe the team had a bad day. Maybe Wigan wanted it more. In the end you can't read too much into one game or 2 games.
This coaching set up have won as many games in 3 as royce and purtill did in 7. So I am not ready to jump to any conclusions just yet. All last year there were doubters saying we will not beat any of Wire, Wigan or Huddersfield and that we would not make the top 4. I'm much more patient and level headed about these things, it's never the end of the world and it's never an amazing side that will go unbeaten all year.
We have work to do and the team should be aiming for top 4. If we can get close to top four in a months time then it's a new 80 mins and I would not read too much into this performance as an indicator for the next one.

| The early kicking was working brilliantly in the second half and got us complete territorial advantage for the first 20 minutes - the try just wouldn't come off it that's all. It was an inspired tactic and well done to the coaching team for putting it in and turning an at that point hopelessly lost game right back in our favour. I must admit I nearly jumped out of my seat when we were still doing it 14 points down with 10 minutes to go though....

That's possibly the difference between having 2 experienced players at halfback, and having an experienced halfback. The coaching team at half time can change the gameplan and offer a solution, but they cannont continually change it through out the 2nd half. Lance being an experienced player could employ that tactic for the 2nd half. If he was an experienced half he may have recognised that it needed changing towards the end of that half.

Indeed - I think it called Hohaia's suitability to be the longer term "brain" in the halves heavily into question that he was still mindlessly carrying out the coach's H/T instructions way past the point at which basic common sense dictated that they needed to be ditched and more immediate tactics pursued instead. This is why we need a genuine #7 going forward as I don't think we have anyone in the squad at the moment really capable of making and directing the team through those kinds of on-the-fly decisions.

| To be fair, St Helen's have not been the entertainers for some years now.
Forum name change needed.

Well, not since last week against Warrington. Oh and the week before against Leeds which was as entertaining as I can remember.
