Rogues - the planning permission was granted a few weeks before Christmas. It's on the Council website for you to look at if you care to confirm for yourself.'"
Wow new year but same old Rogues bull. I heard Wigan were about to be evicted from the DW and forced to play at St Pats car 2nd team pitch .... oh no I just made it up.

I did. With my lights on (including fog lamps) so that I could be seen. I was reminded of 2009 when we had the same kind of weather and I had to do exactly the same thing only I was somewhere near Wigan at the time which made the experience extra scary.

Er, no it's not. At least the south side of it isn't. There is a great big open space from the stadium up to God knows where on the south side. And it's the south side which has suffered damage.

Ahh, they must've knocked down Arnold Clark, and the industrial units then... not to mention the verges all around that industrial estate...
Time to wake up and smell the bacon SaintsFan, Langtree Park is POOR. The mear fact that they realised after the thing was built, that they have to add additional bits, is the first sign. Now the roof falling in, when there's no damage to the industrial units (built out of corrogated steel/alloy)... Regardless of GUST speed, a building should be designed to withstand SUSTAINED wind-speed. If that's what happens at a gust of 60mph (common in the UK) then god knows what would happen if we had a sustained 60mph.
Beaufort Wind Scale Lists 55–63 mph as a "Storm" or "Whole Gale" which is described as: "Trees are broken off or uprooted, saplings bent and deformed. Poorly attached asphalt shingles and shingles in poor condition peel off roofs."
Again, this is SUSTAINED wind-speeds, and not GUSTS.

If they 'should know' then they would know that it has been approved.

My worry is, none of the other buildings in the area been danaged, Wigan and Warrington stadium had no damage or either of the football stadiums in the area.
We are lucky these winds didn't occur during a game or someone could get hurt or even worse.

Fog Lamps can be used where visibility is less than 100m in front.
Rule 226
You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves (see Rule 236).
Rule 236
You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.
for further info see the following link www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTr ... /DG_069859
but someone really needs to read the highway code again

| If I were you guys, i'd be worried about starting the season at Langtree. The officials will have that exact same view Pete. IF this were to happen during a game. So, out come the investigators, structural engineers etc etc, to find out what happened, what to do to fix it, and how to garauntee that it doesn't happen again.
I can't see it being a quick process. We're looking at a corner which, admittedly, there is a HUGE stress on corners, but is there an issue with anywhere else in the stadium....
Time will tell I guess....

its not like its the top of billinge lump though is it? even if by some miricle it did get to 70mph, thats hardly exceptional and the stadium should have been designed to take much more = shoddy job by someone

It's not very often that I agree with Wigan Fans but I fully agree that spectator safety must be paramount when the investigatory work is carried out on the damaged corner and that a thorough check of the remaining roofing is completed. As I mentioned on another board that we do not want RL going down the route of Stadia Disaster as other Sports have in the past.
