| I'm sure I read in one of the rugby papers last week that eastmond would be signing 4yr deal after 4 nations.
I read it somewhere anyway.

He is a slimy little worm.'"
Spot on, for this reason is why an International coach should have no links to any domestic teams in the UK or overseas, if wire are interested in Eastmond Smith is in a great position in which to tap him up.

I would suggest that Mick Potter is in a far far better position to 'Tap up' Kyle Eastmond.

I got the papers and have not seen this anywhere.
Last thing I heard was our chairman saying that Kyle had rejected the last offer and he was going to have to see how things panned out next season on the grounds that Kyle has not proven himself yet blah blah blah etc.
This is muddled thinking IMO. Every day the cost of keeping him goes up. every decent England performance his value increases.
I know we don't have any money but I would like to make these points:
1. Whats happened to the money we are saving not paying SL £150K p.a. anymore
2. Why the feck do we let our No.1 SH go when we haven't secured the services of our No.2 SH
3. Why can't we see potential and be prepared to pay for it in advance of greatness being achieved when everyone will be after that player. Unfortunately the nature of sport is that you have to make these judgements which have an element of uncertainty in them. If we don't know what he is capable of who does?

Quote: St pete "Kyle Eastmond, another 20-year-old half-back who will make his international debut from the interchange bench, is expected to end speculation about a move to rugby union with Sale by signing a new contract with St Helens next week.'"
From rlThe Guardianrl on 22 October.

| Must admit I'm shocked to discover that Eastmond is coveted by RU. Kids like Eastmond, Tomkins, Briscoe et al are the future of the game. He is going to be an absolute legend for you guys - wish we had him at FC!

| to be fair to Eamon you have to say that Kyle is proving himself week by week at the moment and those comments are a few months old.
Bear in mind also that Sts have been stung a few times lately by promising youngsters being put on contracts that step up and up but then they don't deliver the goods. Anyone remember Hardman, Tyrer, Bannister, Smith etc?

Bannister could have a been a top second rower, had he kept his nose from the barmaids apron.
A classic case of talent to the brain, wallet to the bar.

TBH it's of no shock to me. It's a slight shock that Tomkins to RU hasn't been rumoured yet but having said that he's under contract now for a few years.
We must keep Eastmond in RL, he and Tomkins are IMO the future for England in the backs and lead an exciting crop of youngsters breaking into the SL throughout the clubs of SL.

Three of them were warned by Saints, Bannister, Moore and Tyrer about their off the field behavior.
Just to put it in perspective it happens at other clubs, Gleeson (Sean), Ashton and Ainscough at Wigan for example.
