It would seem so yes. It doesnt change my opinion of him as a player or person (From what I've been told by people I trust) though.

Interesting thing is when we signed Long we still had Goulding and Martyn (as well as Karl Hammond who could play standoff), I know people had doubts about Tommy's fitness but they were long standing. If you've ever spent any time in Thatto Heath's clubhouse (I have) then you'll frequently have heard it from the horse's mouth (as he practically lives there and loosens up nicely when he's had a few, which is often ) about how he feels the Saints board screwed him over by making him a pitiful contract offer (little better than his previous youth contract apparently) that forced him to leave. He may not have wanted to leave Saints per se, but he certainly wanted to leave a club that he felt undervalued him.

Anyway - all water under the bridge and it was best for all parties that he left when he did, so everybody's happy. We could do with him in the side now most certainly, but I somehow doubt he'dve waited in the stands for 15 years for Long, Martyn, Pryce and Sculthorpe all to retire so he could get his chance so the points moot.
