A few pics. I might be being a bit stupid here, but who is that putting the ball down in the next to last picture?

EDIT - just worked out it's Armstrong.

Most are talking about perry and Shenton but I think LMS could be the bargain of 2011.

Quote: The Chair Maker "Sitting in the North stand it was for me a taster of what Saints new ground will offer.
Decent seat with good leg room and unobstructed view of the pitch.
The refreshment facilities were also superior to those at Saints.

My only worries re Widnes were re the parking situation. The sidestreets were a mess for getting a parking spec as all the car parks were full.
The floodlights also didnt seem bright enough. Hope they upgrade them in time for the new season. Otherwise Sky will be complaining about the poor visibility. This is especially noticable in the corners which appeared quite gloomy.

The big screen is in the wrong place, and most Saints fans wont be able to see it. Only away fans and the posh lot in the South stand will be able to see the big screen'"

As it was a home game for Widnes, Saint's supporters, what few there were (1500), were situated in the away end of the ground, so at your "home" games you will get a good view from the South and West Stands. It is a bit more difficult from the North Stand and the East Stands.

Quote: SaintsFan "No! I really missed KR as it was bloody perishing in the East Stand. You can't huddle when sitting down! I missed my hole in the roof too, even though it didn't rain. No doubt we will all get used to the place but it's all concrete. I hope our new stadium isn't all concrete. And paying £1.50 for a plastic cup of coffee which was too hot to carry really isn't on. I'm definitely taking a flask with me next weekend!

I think we should have gotten the West Stand as the away fans will be able to see the screen better than us - us East Standers will be craning our necks to see it. AND I'm sure it won't be as cold!

But the Widnes folk were all very friendly. One of them even reminded me to make sure Saints pay their rent on time!'"

When we signed LMS I said to a couple of my mates that this lad is a cracking player.
They wasn't as keen as me and kept talking about Perry all the time.

The away end for Saints is the West Stand. The East Stand is for us plebs who will be standing in our new stadium. I know this because I have East Stand on my season ticket.

Therefore, most Saints fans won't be able to see the big screen. Just one half of the North Stand (if they are low enough to peep round), the away end (West Stand) and the South Stand. That's poor.

Heard a rumour that we are planning to move the screen soon - best place would be in the south west corner.

On the whole, i was happy today, a good run out for the lads and they are all a lot fitter, wilkin and wheeler especially look better. We strolled to put 40 on them by half time, then swapped 4 forwards and not surprisingly lost some momentum.
I was impressed by Shenton and LMS, both seem to have slotted into the team very well in a short period.
We'll have a better look how their doing against Hudds, hopefully again with two fairly full strength squads

saints under 20's suffered a loss today.

YORK City Knights were 34-30 victors against a St Helens Under-20s side in a pre-season friendly at Huntington Stadium.

The Knights try scorers were Tom Bush, Jonny Presley, new skipper Alex Benson, Duane Straugheir (2) and Jack Lee.

Chris Thorman kicked four goals and Lee Waterman one.

The big screen was there when we were in SL with no major issues, however the East Stand wasn't finished then. North stand was ok.

If you're worried about seeing the big screen, stay at home and watch it on TV! Wire fans don't whinge and most of their standing fans can't see the screen.

Regarding the game, I thought Graham was outstanding again and will be a big loss for you next year. I thought we competed well particularly in the second half considering the gulf between the two teams.

Plus Points :

LMS looks a cracking signing our man of the match deffo
Shenton looks like he's played for us for a few seasons
Set plays in the first half was good to see. Royce putting his mark on the team which is good to see.
All the players look in shape no bingo wings icon_wink.gif
Overall quite impressed

Negative Points:

Meli - half @r5ed display and still can't catch? 5h1t at full back?
Scott Moore can't pass the ball or keep hol of it? Rubbish effort he needs to improve under Royce or feck off
Defence was shocking in the 2nd half, room for improvement there?
Fosters kicking was pants, he needs to get some practice in?

Um, Warrington fans aren't going to be renting the Stobart for a full season so it's totally irrelevant what they think. Saints fans are going to be using the East Stand throughout 2011 so it is important, given that Saints club are paying rent to Halton Council, that all the fans have a good chance of seeing the screen.
