A very simplistic view that suits a simple mind. Sometimes the best team doesnt always contain the best players.

Especially considering pretty much the same bunch of players at Wigan were a far inferior team last year.

Im not sure where this idea comes from that saints have the best pack. Bryn Hargreaves was your starting prop, Flannery in the second row and then to bring on Paul Clough and Jake Emmitt. Those players dont really worry the opposition much?

They didn't at the Grand Final but clearly they did do throughout the season (and you've forgotten James Graham, Tony Puletua, who often acted as a prop and Cunningham, likewise). We were only two losses behind you by the end of the season. I think that says how effective our pack was, especially given that for the final third we played without our playmakers.

| A lot of you are mentioning Tony Puletua as one of your top props for next season. You have also being telling us how well you were off for backrow forwards. So how come Puletua played most of his games in the back row for Saints this season?

Quite simply Tonys second row spot should go to Solioa next season should he stay fit

He often played as prop for us in 2010 once Maurie was out injured (about four months ago). Same with Cloughie, another second rower who had to step up. With our two new recruits at prop, Graham may have some support but Tony P at prop wouldn't be detrimental to us at all as he plays well there.

How often is often?
Even when Maurie was available and didn't play (at the end of the season) Puletua still played in the back row or loose forward.

You are missing the point. He is being lauded as part of the next years Superleagues best front row, yet couldn't get a starting spot in this years front row in front of Fozzard, Hargreaves, Maurie and Graham.
Please explain how this miraculous transformation is about to happen.

How.
There is a post on here saying that Saints will have the best front row in Superleague next season, and Puletua will be part of those four front rowers.
Is that rubbish?
How many games did Puletua start in the front row this season?
If he couldn't start there in 2010, why is he going to start there in 2011?

We know Puletua has played most of his games at 2nd row and a few at loose forward but he is more than capable of playing prop, come on even you can admit this surely.

Of course he can, but is he one of the top front rowers, that's my point.
I'd have James Graham at Wigan any time, but the other "top three" Puletua, Perry and LMS, no thanks.
That of course is my opinion.

In your opinion
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I love good rugby discussion, and will stand my corner. I'm having another one now on the Wigan board wtr International RL and have said that I would give up Wigans Superleague win for an England / GB World Cup win.

So you would choose Andy Coley ( who admittedly had a very good season) over a Kangaroo front rower ?

And I'd have those three over Prescott, Coley, Fielden and O'Carroll
I wouldn't put Puletua as one of the top props in the game, but as impact from the bench as part of a team of four. And whilst I may take individuals from other teams, Peacock, etc, I wouldn't pick a front four from any other SL club before ours.

Im not 100% sure but i would have thought that Tony P played prop more than he played backrow this year.
Ive said it ever since he joined, i feel tony p is a better prop than backrow.
IMO Tony P , Graham, Perry and LMS will be our four props next year.
