He is a great credit to Saints academy of the time which really produced a golden generation with the likes of Cunningham and Wellens, three players who would go on to be top SL players for years.
Back in 1997 we thought we had produced the best young player in the game in our academy in Iestyn Harris and we were gutted that he wanted out. Who would have thought there was a better one down the road at Saints who we could pick up at a bargain price to replace Harris.
How things could have turned out different had Saints known what would have been about to happen with Goulding just weeks after Briers signed for us.
So yes thanks very much guys for producing Lee Briers and giving us a decade and more of great memories (part makes up for us producing Sculthorpe for you).
Enjoy your retirement Lee
