Even though he says he is feeling fine it is a sensible precaution to let his brain heel properly and hopefully comes back a stronger and healthier person.

This concussion caution is a recent feature of the game, and a good one. Makes me wonder about all that wasn’t done for players in the past.

Wish the lad a full recovery. Huge talent and yet another blow for us in the forwards. The club are doing the right thing and i do wonder if it's the Stevie Ward case that's leading us to be ultra ultra cautious.

Think you might have a point there. When any of our players gets a concussion it always seems to be an extended recovery. Holroyd is the latest example. I don't see this at other clubs, probably because I don't follow them as closely. We seem to refer to a specialist staight away and their recommendation is always going to be to take as long as possible. Not saying that's a bad thing, but I do wonder if we are holding ourselves to a higher standard.

Isn't Bentley out for the same reason as well as Holroyd? While I understand the present caution, the sport will cease to exist unless we find a middle ground. We've got three players out with long term concussion issues on top of the usual wear and tear.

On salary cap, I think you can get exemptions for players ruled out for the year, but no idea on the details. I wouldn't want to knee-jerk sign anyone though, and we need a prop far more than a back row.

Good call by the club. He's really young, and should have a long career ahead of him. If he can put some size on in that time, hopefully it might improve his likelihood of good health going forward.

I might be mis-remembering here because I don't follow it closely, but didn't Mike Brown in Rugby Union take around 2 years out of the game around the time he was the England fullback because of concussion issues. As I recall he came back in better health for it and continued to play.

A really bad outcome for the lad but time away from the game and glare could do wonders.

I really hope he can recover and is properly looked after by Leeds and hope to see him back on the field as soon as is practical / safe.
