| It that the best the BBC can do? There was no time given that I could find and when coverage did start [7.50 ] it was amateurish. So no build up sound was terrible and I thought we were supposed to hear the ref? The comantrey was poor. One day Kevin Brown may learn to say Smith and not Smiff.

| I know more than one person who couldn't find the coverage, even when looking on BBC iPlayer.
It's almost as though the game was hidden away on purpose. I've heard nothing but negative reports from those that did find it.

Wire fan here in peace. I had this same issue. They said it was going to be on the red button, but there was nothing there. I eventually found it, buried in iPlayer and nowhere near the front page. I really can't imagine any other live sport treated so poorly, even the women's six nations gets more attention from the beeb. Even as recent as last year we got two cup games live on TV on the BBC, usually on a Saturday and Sunday. If they're going to cling onto it they ought to present it better, or give it to Channel Four. As others say, the commentary was awful, the female kept getting names wrong. The sound was tripe, the camera angles awful, cutting away from the referee and stuff.

| I had to turn the sound off at half time as the commentary was that bad
If the BBC's commitment to showing RL on their platform is to put it on the Iplayer then they might as well not bother.
Channel 4's coverage of SL games was very good and was almost like a breath of fresh air for our sport on terrestrial tv and it's a shame that it has ended

Agree Biff.
The C4 coverage was very good and showed they were really making an effort to push RL to a wider audience.
This was pretty amateurish from the BBC.
Commentary was poor.

| The coverage was about the worst I have seen from the BBC.
It was embarrassing how the commentator kept having to apologise for the fact that the on-screen timer bore no relation to the actual amount of game time elapsed. No tackle counter was irritating after getting used to Sky's coverage.
The first 10 minutes or so featured too high volume on the referees microphone that sounded like listening into a mobile phone conversation on the train being sat next to someone with their phone on speaker mode. Awful.
I doubt the sport picked up any random viewers who had not already committed to watch the game. It took me about 20 minutes of Googling and trawling iplayer to actually find the game in the first place; in the end the only option was to find the specific channel number for Virgin (a TV package I only have to make my broadband cheaper). The lack of specific guidance on the BBC's own website was pretty poor, did they actually want anyone to watch?
The lack of video referee was also appalling. Was this because the BBC refused to fund it?
If it was part of a ruse to encourage fans to go to the game it clearly backfired - the North Stand looked empty and didn't put the game in a good light either.
