If McDermott decides not to select him (why was he missing last night?) he'll be neither use nor ornament until he's gone - contract or no contract. Although if he does end up in the NRL I guess Leeds could have another of those oh so useful twinning deals, you can never have enough of those in my book.

Hardaker, Golding, Cuthbertson & Burrow all injured should have been on the spreadsheets! But I agree he should not now be selected as potential buyers will soon realise he is not worth it

Hardaker allegedly had enquiries from 11 clubs in the NRL in 2014, and received actual offers from 7 of them.

I wonder how offers he'll get this time around?

If Jordan Tansey, Ben Crooks and Dan Sarginson can get signed in the NRL then I'm sure Hardaker can. The question mark would be over the money, whether anybody would pay the fee being asked and if Hardaker accepts a wage that might not be as big as he's hoping for.

Wonder what Leeds will do with him now....if it is what the club should do then the lad is going to spend a lot of time kicking his heels waiting for that big elusive offer coming his way.

McDermott's "lifetime" contract is the same as the "lifetime" guarantee you get with a non stick frying pan. Basically it's valid until $h1t starts sticking, then it's not.

Actually this exact sort of situation shows the value of signing players on long term deals. Things are always subject to change, and having the contract there prevents them from being easily snapped up by rival clubs. The transfer fee's a bit of a nonsense, but its is probably only designed to get rid of interest from SL clubs. If Hardaker's determined to leave then the NRL may be his only option.

As it stands though I really can't see any NRL side signing him up in the short term except for the Knights and Titans. Knights because they are a shower of the proverbial and any new player would be welcome, and the Titans because they have a very thin squad. Not sure about the Raiders, as Wighton is a good player (although prone to the odd major stuff up)
