| I've just had the Book Treble delivered and had a quick browse through and it was interesting to read that there are plans for a new north cricket / rugby stand ,new south stand and improvements to the western terrace to do it all by 2019 .I knew of the North stand by that deadline, but the other two projects ? If they were completed in that time would surprise me .Wouldit mean moving out for a season?

The big issue for the club is having some alternative seating capacity while the North stand is redeveloped. So the South Stand or Western Terrace will really need to be completed before then and one of them is likely to incorporate a significant number of seats.

| Not strictly on topic but is the book any good? It's obviously a souvenir piece but is it more than that?

Well for me being over here and missing 95% of the season I need to buy all these books that come out .Ive only had it an hour or so and not read it.It looks similar to those end of season publications that the club comes out with. Its a collectors item and it looks quite good to me ,mostly press reports

I remember this article being brought out by yccc. yorkshireccc.com/news/view/2740/ ... masterplan
Then they had problems with the stand due to corrosion which means it'll have to be done as soon as possible or loss of international matches could happen.

The bottom picture is the latest render of the cricket side of the shared stand. The other 2 pictures are only indicative of what will be on the RL side, but probably not far off what will be built, a single tiered stand with corporate facilities at the top shared with the middle tier of the cricket side
This has to be finished in time for the Ashes test in May 2019, with a couple of test events beforehand for H&S reasons
Nothing can happen before Oct this year, because they've already sold seasoncards for next season, but I'd imagine they'll have to get a wriggle on soon because there's been no detailed planning app yet
The SS redevelopment will come after this, there's plenty of bumph on the City Council planning portal for that scheme, which is more or less a straight up rebuild with better facilities and roof. No increase on capacity though
After that they might look at the western terrace. I kind of wished they'd been more ambitious with the new stand because that's effectively the last chance to add capacity, unless they leave provision for a balcony tier on top, which would be pretty modestly sized, but a great corporate faciliity

| Going to be a very tight timescale to get the work done in a single off-season, which these days is effectively four months of short daylight and potentially severe weather. I can't see a way that doesn't involve Leeds being away from Headingley for a period of time, whether that's front-loading all the away games at the beginning of the season or playing some home games elsewhere.
Not sure there needs to be an increase in capacity from a Rhinos perspective if I'm honest. Current capacity is so rarely challenged, and there's no chance of it getting big international games without converting to an all-seater stadium.

| would the new North Stand actually reduce capacity in any way?
Would be nice to have a capacity of around 22K If the new South Stand had an increase in capacity of 2K then I think there would be more chance of filling that more regularly (certainly against the big sides, or a resurgent Bradford). I think Leeds can average close to 16K home fans per game this season without too many problems of the back of last year. Especially if we get off to a good start. Success in the WCC would add a few hundred onto it as well.

They do and I am very interested to learn what plans they have for the Western terrace ,the poster indicated that the council is in talks so it won't be just terrace renewal

The new South Stand would have been built by now if it hadn't been for the corrupt Leeds City Council stymieing our planning application. To think that they knocked it back because it was 2 metres higher than the existing stand really takes some believing. The Council should be eternally grateful for what our club has done for the profile of this City, and support us accordingly. We obviously didn't put enough "extra" in the envelope when our plans were submitted. I wonder how much the cricket club slid into the envelope to build the carbuncle that effectively blocks any sunlight from all those properties on Kirkstall Lane and Cardigan Road ?
