| Ok, so considering the hype and hyperbole around Leigh being SL standard, seems like they couldn't beat an egg - and aren't.
I guess its OK to beat Batley and Hunslet, but when you get your ass handed on a plate by Salford and lose to Hull KR - its looks unlikely they will come up as they will lose to Widnes and very probably Wakey.
So Brierley. SL standard?

| He was definitely SL standard yesterday, had an absolutely brilliant game. With a big forward moving pack in front of him, he could be really good.
Interesting, as seen comments that his half back partner was better, yet he was absolute gash yesterday.

Two very different players.
Ridyard is the Sinfield to Brierley's Danny McGuire. So while Brierley is off producing the handful of flashy moments that end up on the highlight reels, Ridyard is usually the one quietly taking the team around the park.
Given how badly dominated Leigh were up front - and their forward pack was frankly awful, seemingly more interested in starting fights than playing rugby - it made life much harder for Ridyard to do that as they were constantly coming off slow play the balls.
I'd still say he's the better all round player of the two, but the things Brierley can do that Ridyard can't make him the better acquisition for a SL side.
Still wouldn't rule them out of getting promoted. They're going to get 80 minutes, probably at Wakefield away in the play-off, and anything can happen. A refereeing decision or two go their way - and I didn't think many of those did yesterday - a bounce of the ball, injuries to key opposition players and I could still see them repeating their Challenge Cup victory from earlier in the year.

| They have about as much chance of getting promoted as Keighley do.
What about Brierley AND Ridyard?

| I'd still take Brierley lets be honest he'd be in a much better set up with much better players around him if we signed him.
I can honestly see a future "triangle" of Sutty Lilley and Brierley and i think potentially it could be very good for us.

| Brierley is a decent runner and has done well at championship level. Would get found out in SL in my opinion and at his age, is there a massive amount of improvement in him?

| Liam Finn has done quite well at Castleford despite joining them in his late 20s
from a championship club. Its not all about age and Brierely would be in a good set up at Leeds to compliment his skills.

| Liam Finn is gash.
Who was the last championship half back to move to SL and really cut the mustard?
James Webster? Danny Brough? Richie Myler?

| Tim Smith at Wakefield is a superb ball handler and puts runners thru gaps. Imagine Leeds forwards running off him ??

He would be found out massively at a big club, in big games. He goes missing, his kicking game is poor and his defence, at best, is mediocre.

Wasn't he at Wigan & shown the door?
So, no thanks.
Of the scrum halves at other clubs, Luke Gale would be the only one who would interest me.
He was unlucky to come through our academy when he did with Burrow & McGuire blocking his way.
Jordan Lilley - if he has the right stuff - should not suffer in a similar fashion.
For the first time in 10 or so years now is a great time to be coming through as a half-back, hooker in the academy or a prop even.

| IMO we are not desperate for a half back.As has been said, the Sutcliffe/McGuire combo looked good early in the year and we always have Burrow for cover as well as the young lad Lilley.I wouldn't be against Brierley coming in mind, he looks good the few times i have seen him, and he would get better playing SL week in week out.

| He would certainly be a gamble. whilst I think he could do a reasonable job in SL, we need a half who can do more than just hold his own, we need someone who can come in and play at a title winning level and intensity from day one.

Not exactly a long list of those around though.
That's the problem, it's not like there is a few Sinfield-type players around the game.
Should accept we aren't going to find someone along those lines and find new strengths (the new props) and continue with our good work in the backs.
