Always sends a chill down my spine at Wembley just before kick-off . Forget all the sky fairy debates just for a few minutes . For me this is one of the things that makes the CC final what it is .

Played it at my Fathers funeral.

Not ashamed to say I will be shattered when I hear it at Wembley.

Always puts a lump in my throat and a chill down my spine on CC final day.

Hope they put the words on the big screen again as I get lost after the first verse.

Because of its Rugby League connections, this was one of the hymns played at my son's Military Funeral two years ago.

That last verse hits home very hard, as I suspect it will always do.

It will be a bit solemn this year too with it being 100 years since the outbreak of WWI

Sorry to learn that Billy. Losing an offspring must be truly terrible.

It was one of the hymns at my Great Aunt's funeral, mainly because she loved the Challenge Cup and always reminisced about seeing Hunslet at Wembley in 1963(? maybe 64). She wasn't without fault, (she was a Hunslet fan for a start) but I loved her to bits and that hymn always brings a tear to the eye.

No idea who is singing it this time .
Hopefully it won't be an opera or pop singer . Definitely hoping it won't be a Carribean steel drum/reggae or a rock band .

It would be great if just for once they had a few fans ( that could hold a tune ) from both the qualifying teams sing it karaoke style .

Ditch all the fancy-dan warbling , opera-style squealing etc . Get somebody , or a group of people, to lead the crowd in a style that we can understand and is nearer to the level of the voices in audience .
