Someone's just posted on FB that Keith is going to Bulls as a coach. Anyone in-the-know know if it's true, or just another off-season rumour by someone with nothing better to do?

Won't be too long before Bulls related kit, ashtrays, keyrings and suchlike starts popping up on his eBay account so keep an eye open - that'll be your confirmation.

Not surprising. Keith's talent made him as a player. Why not as a coach?

Doesn't always work. But I can't see why not if that's the way he wants to go. Definitely no shortage of experience he could impart. I wonder whether you can teach that massive right-hand fend... Happy days.

I suspect he's too big to make a career of the show-jumping.

Seems to be doing quite a bit for the Leeds Rugby Foundation at the moment, as well as working on a sideline in health and nutrition products (with Ashley Gibson I think).

He's always said he wants to get into coaching and after all the tries he laid on a plate for him I reckon Francis owes him.

Mac has said he's looking for someone to replace Lowes.

Maybe Lowes was the brains behind the operation?

I think we missed Lowes a lot towards the back end. On a few occasions after some big wins McDermott hailed Lowes' contribution to the games plan, apparently Lowes was the man studying videos all week knitting the game plan together. Lowes got a lot of stick on here but without a doubt he knew his Rugby, maybe he's not got the man management skills and attitude for a full time coach, but a good assistant to McDermott. Mcdermott is probably the very opposite to Lowes.

Lowes will still be doing at least one session per week with the Rhinos next year, as will Barry Eaton. McDermott has also said that the new assistant coach will have minimal input on game day.

It doesn't sound like a typical "second in command" post at the moment.

When I see Wigan on tv, Wane seems to take heed or at least talk to Iestyn Harris, but Smith seems to be very much a loner even with Poching close at hand.
I wonder if that's how McDermott learnt his role.
I contrast that with the NRL where there seems to be a phalanx of coaches although the head coach is always paramount.
I know which approach I would favour.
Surely it's better to bounce ideas off one another, two heads are usually better than one.
Provided that clear directions & instructions are passed down to the players.
I'd like to see us with a coach who's been a back or half back to complement McDermott's obvious expertise as a forward.
Dunemann would be a great shout in my eyes.

It always surprises me that the majority of coaches were ex-forwards, not usually renowned for deep thinking.

Me too but look at the success of Anderson, Wane & McDermott, not forgetting Noble either either.
