| I've never felt for anyone on a sporting field as much as I did for Kev at full time today. While all the players were devastated he looked absolutely crushed.
It shows how much it means to these players and the small margins between despair and elation. It'll take an incredible effort to raise spirits for a playoff run again this year.
Well done to all those who stayed to applaud the players - Wigan walk isn't a term we can throw around anymore these days.

| Doesn't take the two in 2003 it goes t[iit[/is up .... takes the two nine years later, same end result - the bloke is surely destined never to win this comp.
Thought the decision to take the two was wrong at the time but Leeds are fairly abysmal attacking close to the line and I can see how two points might look a better option than coming away with nothing. Still looked a little negative though.
After today first Leeds player to play in fifty challenge cup ties during the SL Era. Scored his 300th point of the season for the fifth time. No consolation.

We were poor attacking close to the line in 2003 as well!
I just posted on the Warrington forum that the decision to take two bemused me. 12-8 would have still been OK at half time but if we had managed to convert and go in with a lead that would have been a massive psychological advantage.
I'd love him to win one but not sure how many more losing finals I can sit through. Ah well, I'll be on holiday next year!

| Still rather lose in a final than in a semi. That said if I knew in advance that Leeds weren't going to win the comp I'd probably rather lose in the first round of matches. Trouble is you only really find out it's not going to be your year ...... again ........ when it's all over.

| 6 losing finals now for Kev breaking an unwanted record. Had he been picked in 2000 it would be 7. And judging by his reaction it doesn't get any easier.
Incidentally this is his 16th season in the first team. A quite incredible record for a man who is fast becoming a Leeds legend who only John Holmes can be mentioned in the same breath as. Can he make it 20?

I'd love him to play for us at Castleford but it'll never happen. Sinfield is a great player and absolutely humble to go with it and a great ambassador for Rugby League.

You've got me thinking now (and I hate thinking) but shouldn't that be just the five losing finals for Sinfield - 2003, 2005, 2010, 2011, 2012.

Yes and I had realised and was going to edit it & decided I'd let you har your moment!
It shares the record with Paul Laughlin (sp?) IIRC

| My heart goes out to him.
All those trophies with Leeds but he's not yet won the one that counts. Like Ivan Lendl could never win Wimbledon.
I agree with the sentiment though Sir Kev has been a great ambassador for RL and with his longevity at the top I think he is overtaking Farrell and Scully as the greatest SL player of modern times.

Sweet. And I don't even need cheering up tonight what with Leeds re-writing the Challenge Cup and Wembley final history books.
This truely is a record-breaking time for the club and this excellent group of players - both good and not so good, that is if reaching finals can ever be termed as such. I'm sure there will be plenty of other teams who would just like to make a final ..... any final.

| The pain was less in 2007 - 2009 than 2010 - 2012 but as you said earlier, we forever live in hope that it will be our year!
I missed 2000 & 2011 but my attendance or lack of seems irrelevant. There isn't even a pattern to it for me to over analyse!!!
Maybe it will be lucky '13 next year!

Hmmm disagree with you there.
CC would undoubtedly be the completion of his success but the grand final wins are the ones that are the biggest.
Warrington surely know that after last year.

I think there was more than a hint of sarcasm there!
