Southstanders, I need your help.

Recently, I've been heavily involved with a campaign called the Coalition For Marriage (C4M). This campaign seeks to preserve and protect the definition of marriage which has served mankind well since year dot (the Garden). You will no doubt have heard certain noisy parties in the media declaring their support for an alternative definition of marriage. I respectfully submit that such a reclassification would have a profoundly negative impact on society.

At least have the balls to say explicitly what you are campaigning against and then perhaps explain why people you dont know and will never meet, marrying each other will have any impact on your life or even you own marriage in any way.

I think believing the world dot started in ' the garden' is a load of superstitious but I would never dream of campaigning against people believing in this or any other type of space 'god' (except the flying spaghetti monster - hes untouchable)

And then try and join the twenty first century.

Wow, that's some seriously epic bigotry right there! Who on earth has the right to tell two people who are in love that their union cannot be called a marriage purely because they happen to be the same sex? Live and let live FFS!

Aren't there bits in the big book of folk tales which includes your "year dot" story which have men marrying more than one lady? In which case "the definition of marriage" hasn't been a constant all that time anyway?

There's a lot more to it than that, this may give some guidance - I'm starting to appreciate where the OP is coming from now, if I could perm any three from the list then I might just sign the petition...

It's sickening the way traditional marriage has been undermined these past two or three millennia. Who is to blame? I suspect the Nazarenes with their newfangled ways.

Actually, this para from the petition is worthy of closer investigation, it being the best example of whipping up hysteria with unconnected nonsense that I've ever seen...




So, in all seriousness...

1. How will "traditional marriage" be sidelined by allowing same sex couples to participate in a procedure defined as "marriage" rather than "civil ceremony", will fewer mixed sex partners perform the marriage ceremony because same sex couples do ?

2. Which people's careers will be harmed, specifically, give one example and I'll give a counter example.

3. Why would couples seeking to foster be excluded, excluded for what, for being married to a same sex partner, or for being in a mixed sex marriage, does this happen at the moment and why will mixed sex marriages make it happen ?

4. What has polygamy got to do with the subject, why introduce it at all, why not suggest that same sex marriage will cause the sky to fall on our heads - its just as relevant and likely.


There's four serious questions to be going on with, I do hope you're prepared to debate your issues.

If marriage can be redefined to be between a man and a man or a woman and a woman surely it's only a short step to it being acceptable for a man to marry a goat or a woman to marry a mule.

And they will be obliged to teach this in primary school! Will somebody please think of the children!

This country is on it's knees economically ,families are struggling ,1000's losing jobs and vital income ,we have ANOTHER Government we can't trust ,Europe is fecked ,we are still fighting an under funded unwinable war with youngsters coming home in body bags or maimed and the OP comes up with this??
