| Not sure if this has been mentioned previously on here, but I read with interest in Darren Lockyers autobiography that Leeds made him an offer in 2004 'worth a touch over $1million a season'.
Obviously Webb has been a fantastic servant, but wouldn't it have been great to see Lockyer in the blue and amber.
One thing that did strike me is the size of the figure quoted - shows GH might not be as tight with the brass as some would think when it comes to truly world class players - Maybe Buderus really was on $50million a season.

| According to Brad Fittler's autobiography, he had an offer from Leeds for the same season IIRC. Had that come off, who knows whether Danny McGuire would have been patient enough to stick around and learn from arguably the best player of his generation?
At that time, wouldn't Lockyer have been playing stand off for Brisbane rather than full back?

Over $1 mill a season
If thats true then Im seriously glad it never happened. Where would other wages fit into this scenario? And where would we be now financially??

Still a substantial salary but $1m AUS then would have been about £360k. Now it would be £650k.

| This would also have been at a time when Leeds had a predominantly young side with the likes of McGuire, Burrow etc still on relatively low salaries and Peacock yet to arrive. A Fittler or Lockyer could likely have been accommodated under the salary cap fairly comfortably.

| Webb didn't arrive until 2007, not sure what he has to do with an offer made to Lockyer in 2004
