| Cracking game which saw Hunslet Old Boys win the Yorkshire Cup defeating Thornhill Trojans 20-16 in front of 2,030 paying spectators.

a good effort by thornhill considering they are 3 divisions below the old boys and knocked queens out who are also 3 leagues higher in last round.

Isn't Thornhill's current placing in division 3 of the Pennine League a matter of choice? I thought they switched from the national conference because they didn't want to convert to a summer rugby schedule? Thornhill played well today but the best team won. With a bit more luck, Hunslet OB's would have won more comfortably.

| They are in pennine division 2 but above that is division 1 then championship then premier where HOB are in. They came into Pennine year before after struggling for players in conference but seem to have got some back now. If Wibsey are anything to go by in recent years the league will move Thornhill up 2 divisions should they top division 2.

Fair enough, cheers. I often lose track of the comings and goings at amateur level with sundry clubs switching leagues at a whim. Some strong clubs playing in the Pennine League these days and I'm pleased Queens and Hunslet OB's have shifted there. The Yorkshire League was way too one-sided and lacked competition. It doesn't seem that long ago since Thornhill were playing in the Conference Final against Oulton, though that particular final was remembered more for the brawling in the stands among supporters.

| Queens and HOB have indeed added to the Pennine Premier as it was usually a 2 horse race between Gordy Longs Sharlston ££££££ and Driglington. Clubs from Yorkshire League are wanting to move across every season but in the junior ages where I coach we have been asked to join the Yorkshire League :-p

Based on the last few years I'd say Warriors are a very good team but not any better than the top teams in the Pennine and Yorkshire leagues. I saw plenty of top Conference teams get absolutely blitzed in the cups last season by the likes of Queens and Drighlington. I think the semi finals of the BARLA national cup spoke volumes last season, only one team from the Conference in there. Sharlston won National cup while two Pennine league teams contested the Yorkshire cup final. It's a travesty that the likes of Drighlington aren't competing in the Challenge cup while there's about 40 teams from the conference in there. I'd wager Drighlington would beat at least 90% of them with ease.
