According to Radio Leeds

Carnegie and Us will play in the same ground next season.

Getting a loan was too much for Caddick

If true, and if that's the reason it's all pretty disappointing. They should have had a good idea what it was going to cost and some contingency for it being more than budgeted, which I accept these things often are.

They've sold this to fans for 2 years now, made a big deal of getting planning permission so if it was to be put on hold for another year I'd be slightly underwhelmed to be honest

You know what, as I left the rocking old place on Friday night I wondered why on earth they were knocking it down.

Upgrade it a bit, for sure, but why intrinsically alter the most atmospheric part of the ground. The money could be better spent on upgrading the team, otherwise attendances will tumble in these tough times.

If true, then how are the club going to accommodate all the fans in just three stands next season?

According to Hetherington, [i"We have to do it and we have to do it now"[/i, otherwise the South Stand will have to be closed down if redevelopment work does not begin this autumn.

icon_lol.gif I am sure Gareth will tell you that he never made a committment that said straight away. What he actually meant was that it would have to close down eventually, leaving the dates open for a get out.

icon_confused.gif WE play in the same ground already.

I wasn't aware there was ever any plan for Carnegie to move out

We are probably going to struggle to get a safety certificate for the Southstand next season and I have to say, as I know technically why that it is, then I fully support the reasoning behind this. The Southstand is no longer fit for purpose structurally and otherwise and needs to be replaced. I suspect to get it open, for another season or two, then some reasonable level of structural remedial work will be required and I am not sure this is a cost effective course of action.

Lets see what the club have to say, as I assume a press release will be issued soon?

Because it is structurally on it's last legs and needs replacing. It is nearly 85 years old and the old girl just isn't what she used to be!

Yes its a bit disapointing that I release a story and there is nothing on the clubs site.

I hope I heard Jake Katborg correctly

When he wrote the same ground, I think the OP meant that the ground would still be unchanged, i.e. no building work done.

If there's a problem with funding of the new stand which necessitates a delay, why don't the club initiate a...

... "BUY A SPOT IN THE SOUTH STAND SCHEME!"

For this, you get a blue and amber glazed terrace spot which is uniquely yours, along with your photo taken by a professional photographer and a tour of the eyesore. And... there's only 7,500 to be had so get in quickly!!!

Corner spots (between touchlines and 20m line) - £150
Centre spots - £250
Centre spots at rear - £1000 (ts will pay anything).

That'll rake in several million.

*Note: Purchase of aforementioned blue and amber glazed terrace spot does not guarantee ownership of said spot, just a commitment by the club, as far as is reasonably possible, to allocate on the basis of purchase of a 10 year season ticket and a lifetime membership of the Rhinos 4 Life scheme which entitles you to 10% discount on selected club merchandise.

Is the issue that Caddick wanted a cheap loan from the Council rather than having to go for a commercial rate?
He must have known what the answer was likely to be given the current finances of local government.
If the stand has to close losing the current capacity, what will be the maximum capacity of the ground then be & what would the impact of that be on the club's revenue?
It would hardly comply with the Superleague requirements for stadia I'd have thought to only have three sides available for spectators. But it would always look full when we're on tv.
